Just wondering.. we may be able to make it to our cocktail hour if we skip having a recieving line and shake a leg while taking photos.. part of me feeels like skipping the CH and entering the reception hall for the first time will be special and part of me feels like i would rather enjoy CH first even if when we enter the recreption hall we will have already seen everyone..
what are your thoughts?

Yes!!!! We are taking our pics prior to the ceremony and getting out hellos and thankyous out of the way at the ch so we can party like rockstars the rest of the night!!

we dont want to....FH and i know that CH is the only time we will be able to spend ALONE together that day...we're going to take advantage of it...
we'll be there taking pics beforehand, so we can see all of it set up before guests go in...
and im going to give them a list of EVERY horderve (sp) and food that we want so we dont forget anything!!
and they follow us around w/CH food during pictures anyway...so we'll definitely be able to eat...
i really love the idea of being able to just sit and relax w/FH, enjoy the food, and spend an hour w/him thinking 'WERE MARRIED NOW!' i just love him :)

I really really wanted to attend. This is the only thing that didn't work for me. I'm still a little upset about it. We saw each other before the ceremony for photos and then didn't get enough photos so I got stuck taking more photos and had to miss it.

I will be. My ceremony starts at 3 and my CH starts at 7:30, so I'll have plenty of time for my receiving line AND pictures, and still make my CH.

I'm going to my CH. I've spent too much $$$ and waited too long for this day - I'm going to enjoy every minute of it! Also, it's a good way to start talking to people so you don't have to run around the entire reception.
I hear you !! I'm going to the CH 2!! That is the best part :)!

Yes, we are. We are having a planned meeting before the ceremony and doing 95% of our pics then. After the ceremony we'll just do some fun candids then onto the CH!!!

Yes - definitely! The CH is one of the best parts at a wedding (IMO) and I always seem to miss every CH of every other wedding I have been to (for circumstances out of my control) so I definitely want to make it to my own especially because we are paying for it! Plus, I want to mingle with everyone...

This may be a dumb question...but for those girls who say they are not having a receiving line after church - how do you do this??? lol B/c if we do one I don't think we will make it to the CH...

Well.. I may become a social outcase in my community by skipping the recieving line lol.. but basically i think you can just have your priest/officiant tell the guests at the end of the ceremony that there will be no recieving line-- and the guests can wait outside the church for the bride and groom to come out--- also in my church tyhere is an office in the 'lobby' of the church entrance... so once FH and I walk down the aisle together (ooh just got goosebumps) we can go into the office rather than starting a recieving line (our family wiould do the same thing) and then the guests would go straight oustide.. we would still have to wait a few minutes but basically once the guests were outside we could walk out , have our pics taken and still do the tossing of the rice rose petals etc.. and then into the limos straight away to our photograph location .. I am assuming that not doing a recieving line would save us at least 1/2 hour.. not to menton as my SIL pointed out-- kissing all those people at the recieiving line will ruin your make up before pics!!!!!

Most definitely!!!
My ceremony at the church will be at 3 pm. The mass should be done by 4 pm, receiving line and pics should take about an hour. We should be at the Swan Club by 5:30. My CH begins at 6:30, Swan Club is allowing us to take pics up to at least an hour and a half before CH begins to take pics in their gardens. This way FH and I can mingle with out guests during CH.
So AngeeM, you might just see us roaming the grounds, while your reception is still going on.

I WILL SOOO BE AT MY COCKTAIL HOUR!!! That was very important to me an my FH!
almost all of my pics will be done before the wedding.
No FMIL is instisting that we get a huge family pic ..I am actually annoyed that she will be stopping the party to have this pic taken .. just stupid!

As far as I'm concerned there is no way I will be missing my CH!
I am thinking that FH and I will retire to the bridal suite after the ceremony for a couple of minutes to be alone and be giddy and then my dress will get bustled and we'll go out and EAT!
