Are you changing your name?

Are you changing your name?

Hey Ladies,

FH really wants me to take his last name, but I really love mine! What are you all doing? Changing? Hyphenating? Keeping? I'd love to know!

I'm adding a poll, too!

this was a big issue for us for awhile. DH said he wanted to be traditional and have me take his name--and i wasn't very big on it.

in the end--i felt like he had given me just about anything i wanted for our wedding and thensome---and i should give him the one thing he was asking for. its been a lot of getting used to, but i did change my name.

I'm going to keep it professionally but I do plan to take his name.

i just love FH's last name (very italian!) and i am not overly fond of mine, so i am changing it without hesitation - although i am not sure he would have been ok with it if i had decided not to, but fortunately that's not an issue for us.

See - we're the opposite. Mine is very Italian and means a lot to me, and his is completely simple and plain. Hmmmm.

I've always dreamed that when I got married I would take my husband's name, so I was looking forward to it and gladly changed my name. I love it and I don't at all feel like I've lost my identity.

Hyphenating...I was going to take his but I'm not quite ready to give up my dad's last name...

Keeping my name professionally, and using his for everything else

TO ME, and I say this not to offend anyone...
If I didnt change it, its like a slap in the face to FH.
Kinda like disrespect

Jack808 - That is IMPRESSIVE. I would love that - would never happen, though. What is making him consider it?

Re: Are you changing your name?

Im changing mine, FH actually wants me to hyphenate and to hyphenate all of our kids too so I can keep my name, but Im kind of traditional and have always thought I would change it. Plus hyphenating it would be more of a PIA for me to write it all out!

I can't wait to change mine!! Right now it's Dumas and people tell me all the time, 'oh, like that commercial, dumbass and dumbass'...

So I will be taking his, which is Fortune.

Wow, that's awesome! FH would never. He's really proud about being the III.
Although when he travels with me for work, he gets called Mr. Mylastname at the hotels and stuff and he likes to play along. I tell him he's my b*tch since my job is footing the bill.

Re: Are you changing your name?

I don't dislike my last name, and I don't necessarily love his. To me, they are last names.

I just always looked forward to getting married and becoming Mrs. so and so. So in tradition I will take his last name. (I guess I'm glad I do like his last name and it's not something horrible)
