Are you changing your name?

Original post by mandag

Hey Ladies,

FH really wants me to take his last name, but I really love mine! What are you all doing? Changing? Hyphenating? Keeping? I'd love to know!

I'm adding a poll, too!

I'm a pretty traditional girl so I'm definitely taking FH's name

I'm changing it legally, socially, and professionally. I really want us to have the same last name.

It's totally a personal choice, though! This is what will work for us!

Re: Are you changing your name?

I'm keeping my last name legally, socially and professionally. FH couldn't have cared less, as long as I'm happy, it's all good If we have kids they will have both our last names

I'm changing mine (I got bribed) and I am not happy about it

Your husband bribed you?!?!

that doesnt' sound so good....

lol well he's not my husband just yet. He said if I don't take his last name then we can't raise the kids with my religion. It seemed like a fair deal although my kids will be the only ones in their hebrew school with a last name that begins with O'

Re: Are you changing your name?

haha...I guess that would be a little confusing!

I'm taking FH's name but keeping for work. I'm in a city agency & with such bureaucracy it can be hard for my past and current clients to find me if I were to abruptly change it

Re: Are you changing your name?

I can't wait to change my last name - I feel like that makes us a family! ( along with a million other things LOL)

Honestly, I don't have a choice - he would never stand for me keeping my name, luckily we are both VERY traditional!

I am not, and I think FH should change his to mine, since mine is a lot shorter

Re: Are you changing your name?

I'm hyphenating it mainly because I don't want to change my name at work yet. It will help ease me into the process too!

Re: Are you changing your name?

I love my last name but I will be changing it to my fh's. He has a beautiful last name and this is one thing that he insists upon. I agree with him because I think it's important especially when we have children. But, like others said, it's a personal choice.

Re: Are you changing your name?

I'm happy to be changing my last name to FH's! While I love my last name, his is great too, but theres just 1 problem....

FH is related to a great ex-Met so he's always asked if he's related so now I will get the same constant questioning as he does now!!!!

I am changing it. It would sound terrible if I hyphenated Jessamyn Ramos-DePaola. Yuck!
