Hey Ladies,

FH really wants me to take his last name, but I really love mine! What are you all doing? Changing? Hyphenating? Keeping? I'd love to know!

I'm changing mine to FH, but I have a really long miserable to pronounce last name and FH has such an easy to say English last name!

I'm keeping my maiden name on everything legal (so no paperwork change required) but I'll use his name socially and call myself 'Mrs. Marriedname'. It's not a matter of liking or disliking the names... personally I'm not crazy about either of them... but, I just don't want to be bothered changing it.

Jack808 - That is IMPRESSIVE. I would love that - would never happen, though. What is making him consider it?

Sadly, he does not have a relationship with his father or that side of the family, but he has a strong admiration and respect for my father and uncles. My only brother has passed away, and he knows it would mean a lot to me to be able to carry on my family name - although I never ever would have expected or asked him to do so!

I am very reluctantly changing my name-- its going to be difficult at work because I have over 140 clients that I work with and I have built my reputation with my current last name- so we'll see how that works out.

I understand. My FH has a great name, but it just doesn't feel right to change mine. It's just not ME. You would not believe how many people have strong opinions on this. Strangers on the street tell me I'm the downfall of civilization! It's crazy. However all this fuss makes me what to change it even less! My FH would like me to change my name but he's OK with whatever I do.

I am changing my name, but it's going to take some getting used to, I have a nice Irish name and FHs name is Ukranian with about 15 constanants for every vowel

Unfortunately, my first name rhymes with his last name and sounds really stupid.

So... I'm going to either pronounce his last name like his uncles side does so it doesn't rhyme (against what FMIL likes) or, keep my last name and just add his so I can use either.

I told FH I would hyphenate and he is OK with that. I'll use my maiden name professionally and use my married name when it's convenient.

Believe it or not I am keeping my last name (which is ex husbands) because it is the last name of my children....I my hyphenate but for the kids stuff just use mine ....

changing it. Can't wait! Don't get me wrong- I love my last name... and professionally it will take a little while to ease my new name into things.. but I am very excited to marry and take the name of the man of my dreams

Im going to keep my name for professional reasons and then use his for everything else... I really wanted to hypen-my last name, because they're arent any Preziotti's left with an i - they all spell it with an e - Preziottie.... but he's pretty agianst it.
