are you going to your cocktail hour?

our ceremony is at 1:30 in selden and then our cocktail hour is at 4 in aquebogue (about 45min away). our ceremony will only be about 30min... so technically we can be at our reception hall by 3 to take pictures and then attend our cocktail hour at 4.
we aren't stopping anywhere in between the church and the hall to do pics... the only place i really wanted them done would be out of the way, so the photographer said we could do our e-pics there instead. he said he'd need about an hour to take pics at the hall.
FH and i were both looking forward to the cocktail hour... him for the food, me because that's my favorite room in the place and i wanted to enjoy it... plus you can get a lot of 'hellos' and 'thank you's' done at the cocktail hour so you're not so rushed around at the reception... but i will get to see it all set up beforehand and someone could always bring us plates of food up to the suites... does going to the cocktail hour kind of take away from your 'grand entrance' at the reception?
i can't make up my mind... what are you girls doing?

We are for sure going to our cocktail hour...maybe not the whole entire thing, but I don't want to miss the food and drinks!

I hope we'll be done with pictures (we have about an hour for them) by 6pm so we can celebrate with our guests. We don't get to see a lot of them too often so we are going to take the chance to say thanks and chat then.

We did and it was great. We still had our grand entrance too!

We actually timed it perfectly. We were able to shoot all of our pictures before cocktail hour started, we had 30 minutes alone together in the bridal suite to breathe, talk a little, and then we went in to the CH to start saying hello to everyone. It was perfect.

We looked at Vineyard Caterers and I have to agree with you...the CH room is amazing. I don't see what there's any reason that you should have to miss your CH. It's your wedding, you should it enjoy it however you'd like.

I have been to a few weddings recently where I talked to the bride and the groom at the CH. Despite those conversations, hugs, kisses, and pictures, their respective entrances into the reception itself were grand and amazing!! Nothing can take away the overwhelming love from the crowd when you are announced!!!

I'm not, we're taking pictures and spending some time alone together before the reception.

we went to our CH. this way we could say hello to a chunk of our guests so we dont have to do that the whole reception time.

We are and we scheduled our ceremony so we would be able to.

We wanted to be able to mingle with our guests at the CH so we wouldn't have to spend as much time going to every table at the reception...

Plus, I want to see all the food set up!

i have every intention of being at my CH. But i'm concerned that FH's grandma won't be ready in time so we'll get stuck doing pix then. (we're scheduled to do them before the ceremony)

Depending on how long it takes us to take our pics after the ceremony we might just make it for a half hour.....But we are definitly going to try being there from the beginning.
