Are you having music at your coctail hour?

Are you having music at your coctail hour?

I'd like to have music at the coctail hour, but the reception band i'm thinking of booking doesn't offer that in their package.

I've spoken to a few of my friends about this and they said that they don't remember ever going to a coctail hour that had music, and if there was music, they really didn't notice.

Ideally I'd love to have a classical trio play for the coctail hour, but that's at least $750.

Any ideas, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

its only an hour.. is it necessary?

I never really thought of it that much..

We considered having a calapsyo band but then realized it wasn't worth the $700 for them to play for 1 hour. I'd rather spend them $ somewhere else. Our DJ agreed to do it for $75.

Hey, if u have the $ and really want it, go for it!

Our banquet manager suggested that it's really not necessary, and that we will provide cds for them to play in the 2 cocktail hour locations....so my dad is going to make some cds with whatever music we choose to use....

....FH has a friend who plays jazz saxophone so we might end up having a jazz trio in one area for some of it, we'll see!

We're having a piano player right outside the CH room, so hes there almost greeting guests and giving the CH some background music

I was actually thinking of asking the RH if they could play a cd or two for us...definitely much cheaper in the long run!!

i agree, i never hear music at the CH and if there is i don't really notice...It gets so noisey and ppl are busy talking, walking around getting food and eating.

My DJ threw in Ch music for free.

Maybe see about getting a pianist, or a 3 person jazz band?

This idea is also very good. See if they can do this for you. But I agree a string quartet is a very nice touch to a CH.

Sure, but I probably will ask them after the holidays...it's a crazy time of year right now!

We had a pianist playing. Our RH offered it for only $100 more for an hour of playing.

I wish i could help, but I do not even have a band yet!!!!

You should see if your hall has a piano or something. For example Russo's has a piano and if we want we can request that it plays during CH

we're paying extra to have one of the band members play some songs during the CH. Whatever they charged was much less than bringing in someone else
