I'd like to have music at the coctail hour, but the reception band i'm thinking of booking doesn't offer that in their package.
I've spoken to a few of my friends about this and they said that they don't remember ever going to a coctail hour that had music, and if there was music, they really didn't notice.
Ideally I'd love to have a classical trio play for the coctail hour, but that's at least $750.
Any ideas, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Contact Juillard, get a student group! I think it's less than half.

I also thought about contacting a local university group...but don't they need insurance certificates to be allowed by the RH?

Re: Are you having music at your coctail hour?
since my wedding is 5 days before xmas i kind of want xmas music playing during CH. just a light sound for the background. And more of the musical xmas songs not so much so the songs with words.
if i do that i will have my dad make a CD so we dont have to pay our DJ $150 for his own music beign played

Re: Are you having music at your coctail hour?
I booked with Soul Revival for a trio (vocalist, saxophonist, and pianist) for my ceremony and cocktail hour. There is a song that I want performed as I walk down the aisle and they will learn it and perform it for me. I think the price was reasonable and the band leader is very personable.

our DJ included it at no extra cost - he's just going to play a cd or two....nothing terribly special!

We are having a pionist playing in the background, because our DJ threw it in, otherwise I don't really think its necessary
