I know we are going to get a joint savings account.
I don't know if we should have a joint checking account. We probably will.
Just wondering what everyone else is doing.

Re: Are you joining bank accounts?
We already have a joint saving and joint checking account. When we brought our condo 2 years ago, we decided it was best to open up joint accounts together for our house bills.
We both still have our own individual checking and savings accounts along with this.
I do not plan to close my personal accounts after we are married.

Re: Are you joining bank accounts?
ALL of our bank / financial accounts are already joint. We'll continue this after we're married.
People need to do what works best for them, but for me personally, I'd never have it any other way.

Re: Are you joining bank accounts?
We have joing savings and checking (for household bills), 2 joing credit cards, but we also have our own personal checking and savings. Not that we expect to ever divorce, but we both feel it's smart to have a 'just in case' plan.

Re: Are you joining bank accounts?
We have [before we were married and now] a joint savings. But not joint checking. In my opinion, I don't think there is a need to have a joint checking. I do all the bills, so I'm good with that. Dh hates stuff like that. I have my own checking, and he has his own checking, and he never ever uses his checking for anything!
Checking, I think is just really not neccessary. . . savings, I would think is better.

Of course we did it right after we got engaged, we open an account w. our engagement $, and always added to it each paycheck!

Re: Are you joining bank accounts?
We both have a joint checking and savings account together, but we also have our own checking and savings accounts as well. But after everything is said and done, all of our money, whether in the same account or not, is our money as a family now. We just did not close out our accounts that we originally had when we were not married.

Re: Are you joining bank accounts?
we started a joint account after our engagement party. We created both a savings and checking acct. We wanted the checking to be able to pay for wedding stuff whenever we needed.

We have a joint savings now and will probably get a checking account soon. We'll keep our seperate accounts also. We have also put each other on our credit cards.

Re: Are you joining bank accounts?
We both had accounts at the same bank so we just combined them before the wedding. We had been living together for three years and I was paying all our bills so it was just easier to have one checking and one savings acct.

Re: Are you joining bank accounts?
Prior to the wedding everything was still separate. Now that we're married we have both joint savings and checking accounts.
