I thought I was going to be a fashion designer first, then I changed and went into compters. I would have never thought, never that I would become a future stock broker or in that field of business. I took media classes not business classes but I LOVE what I do now, competitve, fast-paced, etc etc, but its great. And maybe when I get tried of this along the way I will try to become a pastry chef and open my own bakery designing couples cakes. , lolololol

we are so lucky that we know what we want to do with our lives because not everyone has that same feeling. When i met FH he was in college and majored in business because 'he wasnt sure what else he could do'. he graduated with a degree in marketing which is great but he still dosent feel that what he is doing was what he was meant to do.(he works in internet marketing now). he would never waste his degree so hes gonna do his best to like it.

I know him best with his strengths and weakness and know he would have been a great teacher amongst lots of other things. i feel bad because i have so much passion and drive to keep accomplishing what i do and cant imagine if i was doing something else how i would feel. it would be like a part of me was missing.

i am not saying he is not successful or intelligent because he is and i am proud of him, but he dosent have the same feeling for his job that i feel and it makes me sad.

Your FH sounds exactly like me. I got my degree in political science. I wanted to work on campaigns and work on Capitol Hill.

But I think when I was 18 and forced to make a decision on my major I was too immature and really didn't know what I wanted.

Don't fault him for not majoring in something he considered his passion. He probably didn't know what that was back then. I know I didn't.

Now I'm getting my masters in education and I am thrilled. I finally feel like I'm on the right path. I'm not utilizing my undergrad degree at all, and that is a-ok. I don't think the majority of people actually go into the field they got their degree in. And if they do, I bet a lot of people aren't HAPPY in that field....

Some people just discover their passions later than others. So don't feel sad for him. Encourage him to go after what he really wants to do!!

Not at all, I went into my field because of the economy and glad I did because I got tons of experience. Now I want to go back to school and go into Marketing and Corporate Strategy.

Long time ago I thought I would be in the Icescapades LOL so much for that dream

Yeah it was weird. I never really sat down and made the decision to become a teacher. It was something I just knew I had to do

Not at all!!! I went to school for technical theater (building sets, running lights and sound) and I loved what I did soooo much but the time commitments were too much and when I met FH I realized I couldn't have a family. So with 6 classes left I dropped out of school and I still don't know what I want to do. I tried teaching at a daycare to see if I wanted to be a teacher and hated it. Now I am looking for a job as an admin assistant.
I still wish I could find something I enjoyed with even half the passion I had for theater

a lady of leisure meaning i dont really have to work

I work for FH, but i do not have to punch in like everyone else in the office
and if i feel like staying home or doing something else i dont have anyone to answer to.

the only day i have to be here is on fridays, cause i have to go to the banks, do deposits and post offices, mail out the bills for him. and everyone in the office orders lunch and FH treats everyone and we eat together.

Kind of.....I always wanted to be a pediatrician. I got as far as taking all the tests and applying to med school before I realized that's not what I really want to do. But doing medical research is pretty close!

In a way... I knew that I wanted to do something in the medical field, and decided when I was in high school to give pharmacy a try... I love it, I'm so happy I chose this! Plus going to pharmacy school at Duquesne brought me to FH!

I know what you meant i just never heard it put that way, ive heard other terms used lol

well not everyone has to work, i know alot of women who have alot of money and decide to work and im talking about mult-millionaires, its more of a self-fulfillment thing and following their own dreams, kind of a self value thing...So more like you dont want to not that you dont have to bc alot of people still do even if they dont have to...When i decide to have kids FH makes enough for me to stay home but i will choose not to. Plus after a while you get bored out of your mind, and days feel so unproductive.

Yea I'm with you. Even if I could stay home I don't think I would want to. I'm a career woman. Of course it will be nice to stay with my kid when they are very young but I would go crazy after a while!
