As a BM, would you rather...

As a BM, would you rather...

have the bride pay for your hair/makeup/jewelry/etc as your BM gift?

OR

shell out the money yourself for these things and receive a gift from the bride?

--And please comment why and lets try not to have any drama over this LOL

I would be happy with either, but i chose the hair/mu one since this is what I am doing for my girls.

I feel like with the way the economy is today that the girls would want to skip on mu, and most of them have never had it professionally done so I thought it would be nice to have it done for the first time. A little pampering for my girls

This is a non drama response.

I would NOT want day of jewelry. Its a beautiful gesture but I probably would never wear it again. So I would say you buy that for them if YOU want them to wear the same stuff.

I would say the pampering! Let the girls know that their gift is going to be you paying for the makeup and hair. You can always get them a little something (flip flops for the day...something small and cute as a little something)

Thats what I would want as a BM.

I def agree with you on the jewelry... just bc everyone has their individual tastes... and I wouldnt want to get someone something that they wont use again... which is the reason why I'm even asking this question in the first place LOL

I voted for gift. I don't have the money to pay for hair and makeup for all the girls. Plus they haven't helped me at all with the wedding. Not even a quick call to see how things are coming along. So, I will get them a gift that I can afford

I probably would like hair and makeup myself, depending on what the alternative for the gift is.

When I was in my sister's wedding, technically I was given both. We all got the same goodie bags as the rest of the girls, with our DOJ, purse, flip flops, toiletries, etc., but as MOHs, my other sister and myself received a $50 cert to T Carlton's to go towards our hair and makeup, since she knew we were going there.

I paid for my hair and makeup out of pocket though, and used the certificate twice throughout the year to get haircuts LOL. So probably don't go by me, I was just looking for the most economical way possible.

I would appreciate my hair/MU being paid for, especially in this economy. It's rough for some people to come up with the money and who doesn't like to be pampered?

Being pampered is actually my favorite gift for any occasion, so if you did do a gift, as a BM I would love a gift certicate to get a massage or a facial.

I chose money towards hair/make up but we'll probably be doing both. We wanted to get everyone in the BP the small digital video cameras (which you can get for around $100 on sale) and then i was going to give each girl $50 towards hair and makeup...I thought about giving DOJ but I don't want them to be little clones of each other...I def want them to bring their own style to the dress as much as they can

wow 150 for each girl??? i def wasnt going to spend that much i was thinking more like 100 at most

my first instinct was hair and makeup...however, i realized that not every BM will want to get her hair and makeup done...for me, I have 3 that are doing things themselves so for them that gift wouldnt help! Its a tough call!

I would prefer the hair/makeup/jewelry. I always want to look my best if I'm in a wedding, and it's a lot to get hair/makeup. That would be amazing!

Yea I sent an email to my girls asking them if they felt comfortable with someone doing their make up and that I was thinking of doing this as a gift for them and they were all so happy and thrilled so I went for it. If they werent all on board I wasnt going to do it. I am only doing MU not hair. It would be way to much for me to spend. I bought each girl a Coach MU bag and I am going to put a card inside it saying basically I am paying for your MU just worry about the tip

Hair and makeup is a very nice gesture. Definitely would be appreciated because that's very pricey and what girl doesn't love to be pampered?

I agree with the other posted that DOJ will probably never be worn again so I don't think BMs ever love that idea.

The gift is always nice because it's something they can use after the wedding. In a way, any wedding-related gifts are a bit 'self serving' because it acts to make your wedding day better/prettier whereas a gift is something you'd give to someone b/c you think they'd enjoy it personally

Its not in bad taste to ASK them.

If you dont want to ask I say do Hair/MU and a small something to say I love you and thank you.

If its a gift I say go to the coach outlet and get them each something for around $100.

But if ALL the girls are getting hair/mu my vote is that. ESPECIALLY in the economy!
