it can be done. u just have to be hella conscious of what your WANTS and NEEDS are
my parents made NOOOOOOTHING their whole lives. like 10/hr . PEANUTS
but they successfully purchased 2 homes, both of which are paid off. they never deprived us of anything... but we hardly ever ate out, we never went on vacation and didnt always get the most expensive things.
when u go home, take a look around u.. look at all the STUFF you have purchased.. do u really need ANY of it?
u and ur husband (fh is TEMPORARY) he is your husband, have to sit home and decide on ways to cut back.
everyy dollar adds up, trust me
and rememebr, the more money u have..the more expenses you will have. its all relative.
millionares have yachts.. do u know how much $$$ is needed to fill up a yacht with gas?? 55k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELLLO!!!!!

Barb, i totally agree! thats why yesterday (oh man this is so ) we found a kitchen table on a side walk and we really needed one so we took it. yup I am a FREEGAN
seriously tho, I agree with the WANTS against NEEDS approach. def save a lot like that.

Barb is abosolutly right!
My family had nothing growing up and somehow my parents managed. Don't stress about money and a house right now. Like my Mommy says 'one day at a time'. Budget yourself and a house can a wait a year or two or longer.

Wow..FH and I make so little combined compared to everyone who posted.
I don't know how we're going to afford everthing either..but we're trying to put aside 1500-2000 combined each month. It helps that I live at home.

I also see renting as pointless, but living w/FH is so much more important than $$$. I had much more money when I lived on my own, but I prefer to have less in order to come home to FH. JMO

i LOVE IT. we live by all the rich homes so we find everythinggg. and when we throw stuff out, ppl pick up our 'garbage'
theres noo shame in it.
the table in my kitchen costs at leastttt 1500$ it weighs 500 lbs and its stone.. we were driving to his moms house and i saw it. im like BACKKKKKKKK UR CAR UP NOWWWWWWWWWWW I WANT THAT TABLE lmao
i dont knwo how we lifted it.
our entire apt is furnished from stuff ppl gave us and shyt we found in the trash. im sooo proud.

you and my mom would be BEST FRIENDS!!!! My mom's also all about driving around LIC looking for factory outlets. She's crazy.. she'll walk into a random building and just start talking to people lol.

Fh & I make very good money, but we still live paycheck to paycheck and that's bc of our lifestyle, we love nice things, taking trips, dining out. So I think it all depends on your spending habits. We could live on half of what we make. So it all depends on how you save and what you buy.

sounds like you really want a house and if you think paying for wedding is tuff wait until you start the process on buying a home
