Bakery Problems

I reached out to my venue about this issue and I got the following responses: If the bakery chooses to charge for their tastings that is their prerogative, they will NOT credit us if we choose to use another bakery & on top of that I would need a certificate from the bakery I choose to us that they have an Off Premise Bakery Certificate for Suffolk County. I find ALL of this insane. If I choose to use a different bakery you cant subtract the amount the cake would have cost-stupid! Also, you can't be serious with this off premise bakery certificate for Suffolk county I don't live anywhere near there what if I picked up a cake from stop & shop? What if I made on myself? I still need a Certificate? My mom said when the wedding gets closer were going to meet with them and argue it till we get what we deserve. The reviews on Rolling Pin Bakery are absolutely scary - majority of them are AWFUL one girl even wrote that she didn't care about her cake but when she saw it the day of the wedding she was crying because it looked liked it had been decorated by a 3 yr old.

Bakery Problems

Thanks for the cake filling suggestions brirosie16! I actually emailed the Rolling Pin today. It was a nice email but I did mention my fiancé and I are concerned with the quality of the cake fillings. I said we have used the bakery before in the past, think it's excellent and we were just disappointed with the samples. I also asked for a few recommendations for what combinations seem to be most popular with their brides. He was very polite but the Rolling Pin basically responded back by saying they are puzzled that I found their samples bland, they haven't changed their recipes and perhaps I would like to reorder samples. But he did offer to help work something out if I still am not satisfied.... I hope everything turns out ok but after reading some reviews I am a bit nervous!

Bakery Problems

I've never dealt with the Rolling Pin for any event but I live locally and everyone around here loves their food! Maybe wedding cakes they slack in but I wouldn't know...for typical bakery and pastry items, I've only ever heard and tasted good things :)

Bakery Problems

We have officially decided to go somewhere else for our cake. I read on their website (I think) that they charge for anything you want put on the cake besides icing and fondant. If you wanted some seashells and stuff you need to buy them - this just sounds like the most unprofessional, sad excuse for the bakery. I may seriously even make the cake myself - I am extremely capable and I would rather know it came out the way I wanted and I already know what it tastes like than leaving it in this particular bakeries hands.

Happy you made a decision, I know this has been an ongoing battle. Do you think your venue is going to give you a hard time bringing in your own cake? I know they were before

Bakery Problems

Thanks! They may but when you send my father in there when he's pissed the response normally is whatever I want so... trying not to sound like a spoiled brat - I will end up getting what I want. I'm the PAYING customer. We will be meeting with them soon to discuss this issue.
