I finally booked my hall and now I'm trying to decide between a band or a DJ. Any opinions or recommendations for either? If you have pricing that would be helpful too!

it's so classy
This is my biggest beef with band people. And searsc, this is totally not meant to be directed at you personally, but I cannot stand when someone tells me a band is classy, thereby inferring that my wedding will be less classy simply because there will not be a band. I don't see how either makes a wedding classier.
Sorry, this is just one of my biggest pet peeves of the process since I've had to hear the classy argument from basically everyone that I know (except my family).
I agree with you 100%

Re: Band vs. DJ
I voted for DJ b/c they are cheaper... and the music they play sounds exactly how people are use to hearing it... I have heard with a band the music doesn't always sound the way people are use to hearing the song on the radio... but I have seen some bands in showcases and they were awesome!

Re: Band vs. DJ
I LOVE a good band at a wedding and really wanted to go with a band, but just didn't have the money in the budget to do it- Besides the fact that the band itself is much more than the DJ, we would also be feeding and tipping that many more people, so we decided against it. We also went with a very basic DJ package and are spending under $1000, so a band would have been WAY more.
As you can see, everyone has different opinions on this - some people, even if they have the $, prefer a DJ. Do what you and your FH want and can afford and everyone else will live with it.
