BC proabably closed for not reporting all the cash, since they only wanted cash and no credit cards or checks. they probably didnt pay taxes on that.

Someone on one of the other boards had mentioned it. I think they said an employee had said it.

Re: Closed: Bridal Couture of Manhasset
Well if that is the case then they are just horrible people! They should have told the people that purchased dresses from them that they were closing! And not only that but they should not have been taking in new orders! That's jsut insane! Its one thing for a business to go under.. but they should do so with dignity and respect for their customers! There is a right way and a wrong way to go about this... and this place did everything WRONG! It's scary and horrific. I am truly sorry for every one who has to deal with this now... i really am! This is a brides worst nightmare! I hope you get something good out of it! Maybe even some sort of class action suit.. ANYTHING!
For future reference... when you are dealing with any type of business or store who ONLY wants CASH.. this should ALWAYS be a red flag that somethign is up. It's a little different when you are dealing with a smaller type of business or someone who does make-up per se... but for a business as large as this one... to only ask for cash... there's something not right there. Usually when they just want cash it's because they are trying to hide income and assets. They don't want to pay taxes on it... or they are trying to hide the origin of where the money came from. There are federal laws and regulations about this and it's illegal!

I think that post was about how the Staten Island location is scheduled to close in Spring '09.
The Manhasset store has suddenly closed.

Hmm, if I'm wrong, I apologize. The name sounded familiar to me for some reason.

Well, I just got the letter they sent me and I must say, it's the most unprofessional letter. At the very bottom there is some handwritten scribble. My designer said she'll take over from now on, but I want to know what can I do to prevent her from telling me later down the road that she won't make the dress. Does it make sense?

Well, why would the desinger do that? I mean it's her reputation on the line. The store is another story bc they closed down. But is this a popular designer? Maybe I am confused??? For example...this 1 dress I am interseted in is by Augusta Jones... so I would have contacted Auguta Jones about the dress.... and you are worried about Auguta Jones saying they will take care of it and then not? If so, I think this would all depend on who the designer is. But I would think you have a chance that way. I mean then it's the maker of the dress.... so i would think they should be the most reputible.

Re: BCM
Wow that is totally crazy - sorry about your dresses girls.
Also - a note about the cash thing. I noticed alot of salons want cash because 1) checks can bounce 2) credit card charges can be disputed if you are not happy with the purchase. Totally bogus but that is the case at alot of places.

Re: BCM
what a freakin nightmare!! i am so sorry for all the girls that are dealing with this horrific situation.
I always thought this place was way sketchy and didnt even consider looking there this time. when i went to look for a dress there back in 2004 they had a policy of not telling you who the designer was until you purchased the dress, which is absurd and completely shady.
My boss just told me she bought her dress for her daughter's wedding in Aug there (paid in full) and she just got her letter in the mail yesterday too

Re: BCM
I dont know the truth but this is what happened to me last week with Manhasset Bridal Couture.
I got a letter in mail stating they lost their lease and the store was closing down and that since my dress was paid in full they would ship it.
So as any bride would not want their dress shipped!! I called and left 2 messages. My call was returned within 24 hours from a saleswoman who stated this----the store is closed -they did not renew lease-they no longer have keys to enter store. All dresses are currently stored in various locations and I can not pick it up. I bought a sample off the rack. I am upset that I was not called before this lease ended. I would have along with many other brides Im sure gone in and picked up my dress. I am nervous BUT I have to state that I did get a call back from a saleswoman thay took her time with me and was very considerate of my concerns. I am supposed to receive my dress via ups this week-I will keep you posted. The store has all their items in window(does not look abandoned) but it is closed I have driven by numerous times with nobody in store.

Re: BCM
I ordered my dress through bridal couture of manhasset and I am dealing directly with my designer who is amazing. However, for some off reason BCM lied on the slip that they gave to him for my payment. Basically they wrote that we gave them $400 less than what we really did. I am trying to get in touch with someone from bcm to see why they did this. Does anyone have that # that they sent out when they closed?
Also, my mom was driving on the north shore and saw that there was another bridcal couture that opened.
