Before FH proposed...

did he ask your parents permission?

FH asked my mother and stepfather!

FH had his mom email my mom to discuss it and then FH called my dad...

Ironically, my dad told me what a hard time he gave FH...FH says he was actually very nice and said how happy he was, how much he liked FH, yada yada....

that still makes me laugh...

well i dont know if he actaully 'asked' but he spoke to my dad about getting me a ring since they were going through a relative. so i guess that was kinda like asking haha.. but everyone was WAITING for him to say something.. we were together over 7 yrs at that point

nope, he was too nervous. He kept trying to and couldnt do it.
It's okay though, I'm sure my dad would have liked to have been asked, but I'm possitive he would have said yes.
My parents love my FH.

Yep - my dad has a great contact for Diamonds - so he had to ask him... When he did - this is what happened:

FH: Um....if it's okay with you - i'd like to make an appointment with your diamond guy - to ummm....get Jess a ring...

My Dad: No - f&&& you.

Then they started laughing & it broke the tension (they get along like best friends, really - it's creepy)..

My dad said, 'I'm going to tell you the same two things my wifes father told me... If you don't someone else will, and, of course!'

yeah they were all dying for him to get me a ring and propose already.. i think at first i was more happy that he did it so my family would stop pestering me hahaha J/K

Yes he called my father-he lives out of state and he went to my house to ask my mom.

Of course my mom cried lol

Funny story. FH decided to do it while we were away for new years which didn't give us a lot of time in between christmas and then. So he told his mom christmas eve that he was going to do it and then asked my parents a few days later... well, his mom was so excited, she told the whole family before we got there on christmas and his cousin ran up to us when we walked through the door and was like, OMG! CONRATULATIONS! I said, um, congrats on what? and she said on being engaged!!! I was like, um, we aren't? the whole family got quiet!!! She turned so red and felt awful. She didn't ruin the surprose though, I had no idea it waas going to happen when it did!

After that he was in the living room with other cousins that said, 'wow, Jess really blew things for you, huh?' LOL
