Was just reading everyone’s answers and thinking…it’s so funny how it can be a cultural thing. I was talking to my FH about being walked down the aisle and he couldn’t believe I wanted my dad to walk me down. He kept saying, “He doesn’t own you!” And I have a great relationship with my dad too, lol. In Sweden, the bride and the groom just walk down the aisle together, so you can be assured FH didn’t even THINK about asking anyone but me about proposing.

yes FH asked my parents...and he also asked them not to tell my sisters b/c he knew that I would be so excited to tell them myself

He asked my mom back in March when he FIRST met her... Then waited til October... He was going to wait til our 1 year, but couldn't hold out.

I don't know if he asked but he always talked about it before we got engaged and my mom helped him get the ring because her friend is a jeweler. So they knew about.

Fh went to my parent's house on the way home from picking up my ring. I had no idea. I was wondering why everybody was acting weird around me for a few days!!

FH went to my house one day to ask my parents but they were on their way out the door and he just couldn't wait...apparently my parents didn't believe that he was seriously asking to marry me and my mom told him to go in the house and eat some ham!! Dont know how true that is tho...my neice who at the time was 6 told him...'yea right Brian go home' and then they started to get in the car and he was like no I am serious...and my mom was like, she will finish school and you will not live together until after the wedding? and he said yes and so she said ok...he was just a little

Nope.
He said the only reason he didnt ask my mom is because he thought that she would somehow 'give it away' to me cause my mom and I are so close and I can almost always tell when theres something going in with her. So my mom was pretty surprised (needless to say) when I called her and told her I was engaged. Im pretty sure she thought I was kidding. LOL
He didnt ask my dad cause my dad and I are not that close (I grew up with my mom, parents divorced when I was 6) and he hadnt even met him yet.

Lou asked my mom...my dad has passed away and lou never had the chance to meet him...so he apparently said a prayer to my dad...HOW CUTE IS THAT?????
My mom started to cry when he asked her permission...She couldnt talk to me the whole day b/c that night he was popping the question

fh asked my mom, my daughter and my brother.. actually he had been talking to my brother bout it for several weeks ahead of time.. about a week before, he asked my mom and the night of before i came downstairs he asked my daughter if it was okay with her if he married her mommy and became her stepdaddy.. he told her he loved us both very much and wantd to be there for us..

My fiance didn't ask my dad...when he told me he didn't ask I was glad because I know my dad would have messed with him. So now, my dad still gives him a hard time just to be funny.
Funny story about our engagement...we got engaged in Greece...he was studying on a term abroad there and he flew me out there to visit him. I was helping him pack and stayed over his house the night before he left. He was planning to ask me in Greece but he didn't pack the ring when I was with him. After he asked me and I said yes, he told me that his dad had to send him the ring because he forgot to pack it. Now we call him the 'double checker.'

he sure did he went to my uncle's house to pick up the ring and my parents were there - he knew they were there though so he asked them then

yes heee did! They liveall the way in Puerto Rico and he called them without me knowing to ask their permission. He was even trying to get them tickets to come out here but that was impossible. but it was great feeling to know he did his part....
