Besides cost, who decided to not to go to Hawaii...why not?
Original post by cc2011
Besides, expense, what are your reasons for not wanting to go to Hawaii? I'm not quite sure whether I'm excited to go to Hawaii. I feel weird because so many people love Hawaii and I'm not as excited... Maybe I'm looking for a different kind of honeymoon...not sure. I would eventually want to go, but am not sure whether I necessarily want it for a HM spot. I just hate of the idea of losing time on a plane!

I am not psyched about Hawaii. A lot of money for me. I'd rather spend it and take a jaunt around Europe!
Yes!
I wanted to go to Turkey and FH wanted to go to Italy....and he didn't have to test my arm to go back to Italia!

How far is Tahiti from Hawaii? We were going to do Hawaii, then Mexico, then back to NY. I feel like regardless on how it's broken up, we will always end up travelling quite a few hrs in a plane. Unless we do something like Aruba, Mexico then Maui. I wish everything was close ttogether.
i think it will be about 5.5-6 hrs
Ohh wow! That' great! How long is your entire vacation? Are you only going to one or two islands on Hawaii?
We are only going to Kona, because I wanted to go back to where we got engaged. 4 days on Kona, 1 in Tahiti, 2 in Moorea, 8 in Bora Bora and 2 in Disney on the way back

That sounds like a great vacation! You're flying to Kona first?

this is JMO, Hawaii sounds nice and all, but alot of the things you can see there you can see in the Caribbean and for a lot cheaper. This can be said for many countries, because more than one country may offer what you are looking for. It all comes down to preference. However, it takes 11 hours on a plane trip alone, direct flight to get to Hawaii. I would much rather spend that time flying half a world away. And IMO, Hawaii is still in the US, i would rather say that I went somewhere else! you know? Plus its really expensive, so if your flexible, you can get so much more for your money, even maybe a longer HM depending on where you go.
I have to disagree. The Carribean is beautiful, but Hawaii is in a whole different league. If it's really just sand and water you're looking for, then maybe, but Hawaii is incredible and very exotic.
Thank you for this! I'm going to Hawaii and can't wait. The only thing that would stop me from going would be cost because it is very expensive and not all inclusive. But, I figure its our honeymoon and FH really wanted to go there and I'm super excited!! My dad is from Jamaica so I'm used to the Caribbean anyway and wanted to experience something exotic and different.

crassshingg...we're doing Hawaii... most likely spending a few days in Vegas on the way out and a few days in San Diego on the way back, I hate flying and there's no way I could do that whole flight! The islands we're going to are Maui and Kauai

The cost was a factor, as was the length of the flight. I'm not afraid of flying, but you lose so much time. I also feel like Hawaii's been done. I also wanted to experience another country.
Hawaii was pretty low on our list actually.

I am not going to Hawaii because I have already been there. Being a past visitor I can safely say it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I started off in Oahu for 2 days where I visited all the major tourist spots including Pearl Harbor. Next, I was off to Kauai where I went on a ATV tour and Zip Lining. I am not the 'adventurous' type but my friends that I went with are so I went with it and do no regret it for a second. Last stop, Maui where I spent 6 days. My friends planned this sunrise bike tour in which I had to wake up at 2 am to go to the top of a volcano to watch the sunrise then bike your way down. Hands down, best part of the trip, highly recommended!! Maui is my favorite island of the ones I have visited. Don't forget to do a traditional Luau and Road to Hana!!

Because DH lived there for 2 years, so he wanted a new place. Maybe in the future we would go.

DH and I were thinking about possibly doing Hawaii at one point but the reason we chose to go to Jamaica was because we wanted our HM to be completely relaxing with no running around/site-seeing - just a fruity drink in hand either laying on the beach or sitting at the swuim up bar at the resort. I feel that if we went to Hawaii we would have definitely wanted to 'explore' a little more'.
This!!
This, but not Jamaica! We opted for St. Lucia and from what I hear it is what parts of Hawaii use to look like. I think my family is going to Hawaii next year so I will see it then.
