Beyond frustrated!

So we were supposed to book Crest Hollow on Monday but the only day in our time frame (May-June) and budget was booked as we (read FH) forgot to ask Mitch to hold it. So after discussing with my parents, we decided to look at other times later in the year specifically July-Sept in hopes that it will reduce our cost pp. I'm frustrated because I feel like no progress is being made, that my FH doesn't quite get how quickly people book in advance for weddings, that time is slipping away from us and that our delay would result in us now getting a good selection of vendors to choose from. Just feeling overwhelmed.

How long into your engagement did you book your venue and photographers?

Aw, I'm sorry you're going through this! For my venue, FH and I booked in August, 2012 for our June, 2014 wedding. We booked the photographer by November, 2012. We knew which vendors we wanted already so there wasn't much searching involved. But we wanted to book them ASAP because we know how fast people book their vendors. It's a bit insane.

Take a deep breath, it will all work out.

We got engaged the end of June and booked our hall August 1st. We are getting married June 1st. Focus on one thing at a time and make a list of priorities. There are so many great vendors that you will get a great one and one that is in your price range.

FH is very laid back and doesn't realize all that needs to be done. I do all the phone calls and research and he comes and listens at the appointments. He stopped asking questions once he learned what kind of beer they are serving at the hall.

We booked everything about 2 years out because I'm paranoid like that.

But you can still get venues and great vendors in much less time than that! Lessing's often has deals for people who are only booking maybe a few months out.

we booked just about 2 years out, maybe 2-3 weeks after getting engaged.

After missing out on a photographer @ 20 months out, we really got ON it with booking!

I have to be honest, I booked everything EARLY and sometimes I wish I didn't. I found venues & photographers I liked more and wished I waited and checked more vendors out.

I think as you continue to go through this process your FH will come to realize that vendors book quickly. If you haven't already I would book the venue and then take it from there.

We got engaged on Jan. 26th and selected our venue before the end of Feb. Right now were trying to find a photographer and then we're going to move our search to videographer and thenn to DJ. I'm trying to have us focus on 1 thing at a time so don't get overwhelmed. My goal is to have all the major vendors booked in the next few months.

Similar thing happened to me (I was planning a June wedding but all dates were booked at CHCC bc I didn't have the date held either) so I changed to a Sept date. To be honest the price is $10pp more but if you are willing to consider a friday night instead of Sat you can keep it similar to Sat June prices if not even less. Hope this helps :)

We got engaged in June, and didn't start looking at venues until October. I wanted to just enjoy the summer as an engaged couple, with no stress of wedding planning. Even after we started looking, it took us until January to book.

Don't worry, it'll work out the way it's supposed to.

We got engaged in November and had our venue booked in January. We booked our photographer in February and our dj in march. We did everything pretty early lol.

We got engaged Dec 2011 and booked the RH April 2012 and photography shortly after that for our May 2014 wedding. I moved quickly because I wanted a venue that only did 1 wedding at a time. Just prioritize and you'll be fine. I went venue, photographer/videographer, and then DJ. I know people who planned weddings in 3-9 months, so you still have time!

We started looking right away. We haven't booked yet but we've only been engaged about 6 weeks.

We originally booked our venue a year and a half in advance but a few months in cancelled it. Now we just booked our venue, and everything else with only 6 months to go. We git excellent deals for booking in a short time frame.

FH and I didn't get engaged until December and we are getting married this August. We only had 9 months and we were still able to get every vendor we liked. We rarely looked heard back from people that they were unavailable. It only happened with a videographer but we are SUPER happy with who we books so it worked out anyway!!

This!!! If you have a vendor that you absolutely love and is in high demand definitely book them early. Also, def shop around and give yourself some options to make an informed decision.

I think venue, photographer and videographer are the most important to book first. We booked our venue about a yr out
