Biggest Misconceptions.

Re: Biggest Misconceptions.

good question colleen...

hmm i would say people being more excited and interested in the wedding but i learned no one will care as much as me and john do about our wedding

all the little details..thats where the stress is..color scheme...menus...slipper basket or no? this favor or that favor? plain programs pr custom? which invite? yada yada

that we would easily be able to foot this bill (what was i thinking?)

Biggest misconception was about how difficult it can be to juggle what certain family members want vs what they are willing to contribute to the wedding.
(New rule for our wedding, you contribute you get a say, you dont contribute you get no say)

Re: Biggest Misconceptions.

that i could plan a wedding and look for a house at the same time without crying myself to sleep at night due to stress

that i could see a hall that may be out of my price range because i would have the ability to find somewhere else just as nice

that it would be fun. i LOVE planning things for people, I hate planning for myself. It feels weird

That I could stay under my budget!!!!!!

Re: Biggest Misconceptions.

i thought that because both of us are pretty laid back that the whole planning process would be easygoing too...
i also never thought his 3 sisters would all back out of my bridal party (bc they didnt like the dress they never even saw...)
and his own mother would be the most unsupportive and downright mean person we would have to deal with

grrrrr....

i also thought it would be a lot harder to book everything . . . but we have all our major vendors booked already!!

BUT I FORGOT THIS ONE!!! I thought chair covers were included in the RH price . . . atleast it's only $5 a person . . .

oh, and I also thought we would spend about $18,000 on the whole thing . . . hahahahahaha

I thought FMIL would care and I never thought she would have gotten as mean to me as she did but hey accoring to her the wedding isnt about fh and me.

I did not realise how many people would want to put in their two cents

OMG me too! I cared nothing for any of that stuff, now its all about cute this cute that

my biggest misconception was as majority of ppl on here is that my closest friends would be more into listening, helping and discussing, after all I went thru the process of planning of their weddings - was dead wrong

Re: Biggest Misconceptions.

The biggest for me was thinking I could get away with a guest list of 75, when my list alone, before FH's list, hit 90, w/o kids!
I've officially reached 140, nearly double what I wanted to begin with...huge misconception!

edited for typo!

Re: Biggest Misconceptions.

My biggest misconception was that I would be able to have 100 person guest list, somehow our list is 185.

i thought family members wouldn't be so attached to certain traditions, such as the bride wearing a veil. lots o' emotions come out!

how time consuming the planning process is and how many opinions come out! ugh!

Prior to wedding planning...what was the biggest misconception you had? In terms of planning, budgeting, timeline, BP, anything?

My biggest misconception: bugeting $500 for the florist in our original budget.

thats so funny b/c my budget was so high for flowers, my mom told me i should budget at least $5k!

Re: Biggest Misconceptions.

I thouget buging $350 for the invites would be good, but everything we like is more. We will end up spending about $500

Re: Biggest Misconceptions.

I thought invites cost like $1 each. I wasn't expecting to want so many extras. Also I thought I some people wre true friends, but you really see people's true colors.

I wasn't TOO shocked over that much, because I had helped plan my sister's wedding and was a little bit aware of cost issues.
