Biggest Misconceptions.

Re: Biggest Misconceptions.

I thought that I was going to have trouble getting FH involved but instead he does most of the planning (and stalks the boards).

DJ cost... The first guy I met with wanted just under $5K! I thought we could get away spending HALF that! We've raised our budget a bit, so hopefully we'll find someone decent.

I was pleasantly surprised when my friends and FH's friends became super excited and willing to help plan the wedding.

But... shocked to find that my own mom doesnt even care about the wedding. She has canceled on me three times I went to try on wedding gowns...I ended up going alone because I didnt want to break my appointment. She criticized my engagement ring... and not once has she offered to help me with anything.

But at least I have my sister and my friends who have really gone above and beyone what I had ever expected.

Biggest misconception was about how difficult it can be to juggle what certain family members want vs what they are willing to contribute to the wedding.
(New rule for our wedding, you contribute you get a say, you dont contribute you get no say)

I AGREE.. your not inviting the whole world.. and having us pay for it.. nono.. your cutting your guest list- FMIL. grr

I never would have thought my DAD would be so active in planning. He wants to know and see everything!

My Mom on the other hand hasnt been as involved as I would like.

FILs havent tried to contribute to anything

None lol.

I KNEW i was going to have a hard time finding my dress
I KNEW there were 10000000 details
ummm.... yeah.

I never really thought about my wedding so I didn't have many preconcieved notions.

i never expected to pay as much for an RH as we are doing, so that kinda just messed up my budget right there :-/

Definitely definitely the budget! I told FH that I would find a wedding dress for $400. Well, that got inflated a little .

Hmmmm, i never thought planning a wedding would be sooo stressful, ive became an emotional wreck . I also thought I would have more help with planning, but it looks like im alone on this one.... but im looking at the big picture

Re: Biggest Misconceptions.

two big misconceptions i had were the guest list and the details.
i thought keepin the list to 150 was gonna be a piece of cake...... WRONG! we're lookin at 200 at the moment.
and the details that go into a wedding, geezz. we could prolly write a book on this. but it is the little details, etc that really personalize a wedding, so its all good.
