Hey girls what are your thoughts about putting black tie optional on your invitations? I dont want my wedding to be stuffy and Im sure people will know to dress nice, so what do you think to put or not on the invitation?

I don't think you should put anything. I think people know what is appropriate to wear to a wedding.

We're not putting it -i'm sure that people know they have to dress up. The only way I would put it if I knew there were people who would not know how they should dress.

I'm not going to be putting anything. I think the invitation conveys the formality of the wedding sufficiently.
I hope that people know how to dress for a wedding!

Re: Black tie??
theres nothing people hate more than seeing black tie (optional) on wedding invitations. People are already spending so much to go to these events....the last thing they want is to get a tux lol

I'm not putting anything-- I don't want to make anyone feel like they have to rent a tux + if people don't know how to dress for a wedding, they'll look like the fool- not me.

Re: Black tie??
I'm not. Black tie optional means male guests have the option to wear a tux. I don't want anyone in tuxes besides FH, GM's, and the fathers.

Re: Black tie??
I personally prefer black tie weddings but due to uncontrollable circumstances, that is not an option. What FH & I agreed on was to word it something like so........
Formal Attire / Black Tie Optional
I feel the need to be as clear as possible b/c as much as I LOVE our intended guests, I have been to a few formal events where SOME of them have wore sundresses and suits w/no tie. I just feel the need to cover all bases.

Re: Black tie??
we are putting black tie optional on our invitations because we have gotten a lot of questions about whether or not the wedding is black tie. so, we are putting it to clarify that black tie is perfectly fine, but that people shouldn't feel pressured to wear it if they don't want to.

Re: Black tie??
We are not putting it but if someone arrives in jeans I am going to ask them kindly to leave. I was at a wedding awhile ago and someone's date was in jeans and I was so annoyed.

Re: Black tie??
I think it depends on how formal you want your wedding. We decided we want our wedding to be Black tie and we will state it on the invitation. Most people own tuxes and if they do not want to rent, will wear a dark suit and white shirt and will fit in just fine.
