BM dress too expensive? (I need opinions, BM issue!)

Original post by ILoveHim

Okay, so I asked my brother's girlfriend to be a bridesmaid and she accepted. I figured it would be a nice gesture, especially since my brother will be a groomsman. So after months of searching, I chose my favorite dress. It originally costed $350 but I am able to get it for $200. My other four bridesmaids are alright with this price. But she's not, she told me that it's a bit expensive for her and she suggested some other dresses that are cheaper and look nice too (but not just as nice). So I had all of the other bridesmaids vote for their favorite out of those dresses and the original, and most of them still chose the original dress.

I asked my brother to help her pay for her dress and he refuses

Honest opinions please?? Am I being unreasonable? This was by far my favorite dress for the BMs and I'm not going to change it because of her (and my brother's stubborness)

also..

see if the dress is offered at RK BRidal

I bought my dresses from them at a discount, and my sister did as well...

The dress is originally $350 and I am getting it for $200... I shopped around and got the best possible discount..

He's planning on proposing soon...but it just seems wierd to me that he's that serious about her, yet he can't even help her out with the dress to do both me and her a favor?? I'm not even mad at her, I can understand if she's having trouble affording it, i'm just so annoyed with him...and trust me, he can definitely afford it...but he's just being stubborn because of the 'principle'

what an ***.

I didn't think you were mad at her either... i understand your frustration... believe me, I do. I was lucky in that I was in 3 of my 4 BM's weddings, so I didn't feel bad about the $ they were spending on me b/c I was in their shoes within the last few years... My other BM was my FSIL who has never been in a wedding and was a little bit of PITA but I understood.

I paid for all of the dresses and collected money from my BMs when the dresses came in etc etc. I still havent gotten the $ from my FSIL, but I know she'll get it to me.

Maybe you can help her out for the deposit and see what she can handle. she has over a year until the wedding. I cant see how she CANT come up with 200 dollars. good luck with everything.

My dresses were a little over 200 bucks. You invited her to BM as a nice gesture and she shouldnt be causing drama. If its too much for her then she should drop out as a BM. You shouldnt have to compromise because of one person.
