One of my BMs wants to wear flats...yeah she's tall, but I don't want her in flats. She said if she wears heels she will need to get the dress lengthened.
What do I do?

when my SIL got married I was the tallest person in the BP we all had to wear the same shoes I have size 10 feet and the larger the shoe the taller the heel so I was even taller than everyone...did I want to wear the shoes? no. Was it her day? yes. I did what she wanted. I think you should tell your friend she needs to wear heels. I don't think extra length is that much money.

me personally - I would want my BM's to be comfortable. I would let her wear the flats especially if its a long dress- noone would really notice

I had to order extra length for one of my BM......shes 5'8 without heels........it was $25 extra, not such a big deal. She sould be wearing what you want her to wear, being that ITS YOUR DAY!!!!
I say she can wear kitten heels, but not flat flats.......to the reception I understand, but for the church and pics, I say she could do a 1' heel without complaining

I would let her wear the shoes she is comfortable with...I am sure nobody will care, and you will have a happy BM.. Spending money to lengthen a dress may hurt her and why mess with the dress integrity.. I personally can't wear heels as my ankles bother me, and so I got kitten heels for the ceremony and ballet flats for the party...My MH has (sis) is the same, so she is wearing flats to both. She may be self concious of her height also, so I would be mindful of her feelings.

I don't really see the problem with wearing flats.
I let my girls choose the type of shoe they wanted, I just suggested a color. As long as they were comfortable, I didn't care.

I wore flats in my friend's wedding. The dress was long and her only requirement was 'brushed silver' shoes. I found beautiful and dressy brushed silver shoes and was comfortable all day/night.
Her MOH wore brushed silver Birkenstocks. I guess she was a laid-back bride!
If the dress is long, no one will even notice.

I don't think it would bother me unless it was a short dress. I don't think you can really see the shoes with a long dress and everyone will be focused on you. Maybe you could ask her to wear heels for the ceremony and pictures and then change into flats for the reception.

I doubt anyone will notice either. You don't want her to be miserable on your special day because she's not used to heels. If you get her wearing some attractive wholesale costume jewellery , people will look at her neck or ears and they won't even notice her feet. You can always draw attention away from her feet if her flats really bother you.

my sister has a very very bad back. she wore heels for the ceremony and pictures and switched to flats for the reception. (and she's tall 5'8'). maybe your bm could do something similar? then you both win.
and does she REALLY need extra length?? three of my bm's are 5'7'/5'8' and none of them got extra length and all of them wore heels.

I agree too. I'm just telling my girls they have to be silver and.... that's it.
