Booking RH in less than 6 months...is that possible?

I haven't heard a lot of people mention this, but can you really save a lot of money on booking a RH at last minute. I don't have a big bridal party and I wouldn't have a problem getting everything done in less than 6 months. Has anyone attempted and succeeded? And how much can you really save?

I think its def possible! just be flexible with your date and maybe you could get a date that someone else canceled! I bet that brings the cost down!

I def. agree you have to be flexible w/ the time and date...but also if you're not set on a specific hall you have a better chance.
You'd probably get an amazing deal if you booked a Thursday night wedding!

You'd have to be flexible on the date as well as every single vendor. And you risk people already have plans then if you book too late. But to each his (her) own!

Yup!! I did everything with only 6 months to the wedding (we had a short engagement). I mean, everything - RH, Dress, Flowers, DJ, Photographer. It was more than enough time for me - but I think i might also do things faster than the average person. lol. I'm always in a rush for some reason (even if i don't need to be).
I did get a great price on the hall too!! In fact, they were booked on the Sunday that i had originally wanted, so he gave me SATURDAY for the Sunday's price which was awesome!!! I think that close to the date, it was pretty smart of him because he'd probably be unable to book that night any other way.
So yes, definitely! You can save a bunch of money by booking things closer to the date. But it IS a gamble if you have your heart set on a specific hall or vendor. Lucky for me, I got exactly what I had been hoping I would.

It is absolutely possible...we booked our hall about 6 1/2 months in advance and got a better deal then if we had tried to book it more in advance...they gave us $$ off the plates and the fee for having our ceremony there. Our hall is not known for giving 'deals' so in that sense we got lucky I guess... but I have to be honest...6-7 mos to plan an entire wedding is really stressful...there is so much to do and to get done and book!!! If I had to do it over again, I would have given myself a year mininum , even if we didn't save the money we did...I was working on wedding stuff from the day after we got engaged to the day before the wedding...don't mean to scare you!!!! Just some for food for thought...!!! There's a reason that people say you need a year to plan a wedding though lol...

People plan weddings all the time in short time frames. Be flexible on what you want and you can definitely do it.

you absolutely can do it! Just have a few places in mind that you are willing to do it. We booked our hall a year in advance, but didn't book any other vendors until about 6 months before. We booked our florist 3 weeks before! I wouldn't recommend that though!

my cousin did it and she got a great price, the only thing you might want to think about are other vendors, like photographers, hair and makeup. i wouldnt wait to book them since they get snapped up fast.

We did! & YES save $$...The only thing you have to accept are what vendors will be available...So far, I've been VERY fortunate - Just don't settle for a vendor you're not happy with. My other recc. THE DRESS - I already have my 'formal' gown in my possession, but I ordered another dress, my 'party' dress, which SHOULD be in the month before the wedding. I know I'm cutting it close, but I went with it....crossing my fingers. If you have any questions on specific issues, FM me, I'll be happy to help!

We went to the Fox Hollow on September 16th 2008 to book a date for 2009. They offered us a rate of $55 for a Friday in April ($20 less pp than we're paying for our date!). I can vouch for Fox Hollow because i saw it with my own eyes.
Definitely check them out.
Ditto! We went to look at Fox hollow and they tried to get us to book a date 6 months away!

you can DEFINITELY do it!!
we booked our wedding in 4 MONTHS!!! down to every little detail!
we got Fox hollow at a wonderful price AND we were still the only wedding that day!!!
it is not hard at all to book all the vendors and dress..etc.. in a short time span.. just put your mind to it!!
we got all major vendors too that were available its not impossible!!!

I know people who did this and everything worked out just fine. I booked my RH about 8 months out and was able to get all the vendors I wanted with no problem. Your biggest hurdle might be your dress. I was told that I had to order mine by the end of January in order for it to be ready for September.
Do what you think is best for your and your FH.

I was a 6 month bride! Best decision! We were flexible with dates and times. We ended up getting a day wedding in June...was a perfect day and wouldnt change a thing. I also bargained with some vendors and on my dress!
