BOTW

Wow, thanks Jenn for making me BOTW! To be totally honest though (as I always try to be), I don't want to be BOTW!

When I first joined LIW, I tried to ask cute questions but soon realized this was reserved for BOTW. I thought it was a cool idea. In the last few months I've had more of the impression that BOTW was more of a popularity contest than an honor, and I've been dumbfounded with the harassment some BOTW's have gotten over their questions. I don't feel like BOTW is a fun and enjoyable experience anymore.

Considering the craziness that occurred last week on the boards, I'd like to set the veil on the floor and encourage an open environment where everyone is a special bride this week, no matter who you're friends with or what anyone wants to ask.

And finally, I'd like for everyone to use the time it would take to answer a QOTD each day, to text/call/email/bbm their FH and tell them a reason why you said yes when they proposed/why you proposed to them. Today I will be telling FH I said yes because of his consistent thoughtfulness.

Bethie, i think what you are doing is an amazing idea.
I too feel like the BOTW is a popularity contest and an avatar to put on your home page after all is said and done.
it seems like the only way youcan even become BOTW is if you know someone who knows someone.
Again, this is all JMO, don't want to ruffle anyu feathers....
So while your 'Setting the veil aside' i think that you are doing an outstanding job!

Kudos to you for saying how you feel.

However, I chose Laura to follow me and we are not friends so I disagree with that statement, I had 2 brides in mind and I literally flipped a coin.

I'm not in any clique. I haven't gone to one G2G, I haven't been able to meet up with anyone, so I kinda resent this statement.

My other choice still hasn't been chosen and I think she'd make an amazing BOTW.

I emailed my FH to tell him I love him and I can't wait to be his wife... and he responded: 'Thank you for being an inspiration to me and helping me be a better person and always trying to make us the best couple!'

Awwww, great idea Bethie! I feel tingly!

I'm a lil late catching up with this thread after a LOOOONG weekend, and I see that a new BOTW was chosen. Bethie, I just have to give you for your originality in how you wanted your week to play out. Being on this board for over a year, I feel that the BOTW questions (although great and an awesome way to get to know other brides) have become repetatitve. I think what you wanted to do was awesome and original. I think from now on every BOTW should be able to play out their week however they want. It is indeed their crown for the week, and they should be able to do what they want ...

Wait a minute....if there are 'no rules' to become a BOTW...then we can def try something original and creative for the week! why not? It's only a week! if people like the concept of a BOTW, then another bride can def be chosen the week that follows. I bet nobody (brides from other years) have thought of this, amazing idea Beth! and although because of other brides (not to mention any names in case people take it the wrong way) ur idea couldn't really happened, I encourage EVERY BRIDE to have an open mind regarding 'what seems to have become a problem' and try new things, let's for the first time do something innovative and different from any other board, let's show people that 2011's brides are COOL and ORIGINAL!!!!

The thought is great, even if I do look foward to the QOTD.

well the QOTD can be like a 'unit' (for the whole week) and telling our FHs why we said yes can be like a 'chapter' (lolol, I'm explaining this just like I plan my lesson plans) because, just like Shannon and Beth said, if it wasn't because of our FHs, we wouldn't be here. JMO

Edit: plus we can still get to know eachother with posts other than QOTWs, just like we've been doing it all along by posting questions, vents, NWR questions, going to g2gs and so on.
