Bowties vs. ties

I am leaning towards the ties, but my dad is pushing me for bow-ties because he's very traditional and he says a tux needs a bowtie.

FH and I both don't like the bowties, so we're going with regular ties.

Very sharp. Moreover DH does not like bow ties.

we did ties-

I used this theory with my Dad- waiteres wear bow ties- you don't want to look like a waiter do you?

I like the ties, maybe your dad can wear the bowtie, its ok for your your Dad to be different.

IMO, bow ties are so 80's...I love regular ties.

My FH wanted a bowtie. I told him with his red hair, there was no way I was letting him wear a bowtie.

He finally agreed to wear a tie after seeing how sharp it looks.

I agree...they seem very old fashioned. His argument is that I am having a very traditional wedding, so the bowties fit.

I'm trying to tell him elegant is not necessarily traditional, and the ties just look so much better. Plus my FH and the BP will feel much more comfortable in them.

i love the ties and this is waht we are def doing for FH and the GM BUT my dad and FFIL too was very adamant about wearing your basic black tux whcih includeds a bow-tie....

so, the dad's and poppy will be in bow ties and FH and GM in ties.....

He doesn’t “have” to. most grooms wear something a little different to make them stand out. Mine wore a white on white tie. Very sharp!

He doesn't have to, but usually he does to differentiate the groom from the groomsmen.

Usually the groom's colors will match the bride and the groomsmen's colors will match the bridesmaids.
