So....I am thinking about doing this for my wedding/honeymoon.
Does anyone on here know a good place in Nassau?
Is there anything I should do to prepare myself for this? (this would be the first time I have ever done it or any type of waxing in that area..lol)

its not that bad!
and can i make a suggestion...if you can go into the city, go to Bliss Spa in Soho. They use this different wax and i swear to god it doesnt hurt as much as the normal way. its worth the trip in.

Re: Brazilian Wax
take a couple of advil before hand. It's really not that bad. I've gone to the Red Door in Woodbury for it, but I really prefer the results at Bliss in NYC - the results last longer and I don't trust just anyone to that area!

I don;t know any places in Nassau but Maira at Christopher Jon salon in Sayville is great...you are done in 5 min and she goes so fast you don't have time to feel anything...

I highly recommend Bliss. When I lived in NY, Bliss 49 was the only place I'd go for my brazilians. They use the Poetic Hard wax, which is stripless and much less painful than typical wax. Just take a tylenol before you go. It's not bad at all!
ETA: My wax from Bliss typically lasts about a week or longer before I see any hair growth.

Re: Brazilian Wax
they say to take 2 tylenol before you go and have it done... it didn't matter, i was in so much pain!!!!! it's the worst! i'm going to have it done for mine... but i'm not even going to think about it until then because it makes me cringe!!!

Re: Brazilian Wax
I do and it really freakin hurts but so does going to the dentist and u gotta do that anyway! i go to garden city skin care i really recommend them its great!
Also definitely take advil before and don't go after tanning or with a few days of getting your period or a few days after it ends. The area is a lot more sensitive during those times.... the good thing is the more u do it the less it hurts!

Re: Brazilian Wax
Just a warning to those with sensitive skin, I have been twice to two different places and both places the wax took off skin as well as hair. NOT PRETTY. I wouldn't necessarily suggest a brazilian if you are a fair blonde with sensitive skin!

Is this a dumb question.......How do you know if you have sensitive skin? I've had a regular bikini wax before and I've had redness that day but after that I was fine

Re: Brazilian Wax
I have sensitive skin. I am not blond but very light skin and well you should already know if you have sensitive skin. I usually get irrated skin with certain perfumes, lotions, etc, as a teen stridex burned my skin. Has any of this happened to you before?? Certain spa's use a special wax that is hypoallergenic (sp?) and made for sensitive skin that is another option for those who can't use regular wax.
