How much have you girls budgeted for your bridal gown? alterations? accessories?
I am hoping/planning on keeping the budget to $1k for dress and alterations. I hope I am not dreaming.....
Just wondering what the average cost was. When I told FH last night that was my budget, I thought he would be happy...instead he was shocked at how LOW it was....he said, you can spend more on your dress if you want...we will find other ways to save money. I was shocked! Then, he asked me the average price and I guessed at $2k...but I really dont know....
So....what is the general price range you ladies are looking at?
THANKS!!!

my mom is buying my dressand we had originally planned on 3k for the dress.... but honestly, if anyones looking for a big call gown with lots of beading. emboidery, etc., its kinda difficult to find at that price (i must say that i did find some nice maggie's but shes known for the lace up back, which i didnt really like on me)
alterations vary from store to store (im paying 500 but kleinfelds wanted close to 1000!!)
im now hoping to keep everything under 5500, keep your fingers crossed!
Just an FYI for girls who are looking at high end dresses. There is a place in dix hills called Bridal elegance and they will beat any price on any dress just go there with the designer and style # and they will get it for you! I was there yesterday and the prices were amazing. I think you should check it out before you buy anything.
i actually went there to see if they could get my dress cheaper but they couldn't....if they don't carry the line there they can't get the dress....however they said they could make it or get a replica.

No I havent tried the place the you mentioned...but I will now! I have been to: Kleinfelds, Rk, the Bridal Garden (which was horrible!!!) All 3 Bridal Reflections, Lilletts, Bridal Coutour, Wedding Salon, Iman, the Wedding Plaza...I cant even remember other places...I dont know where else to go!
definitely go to Bergdoff Goodman, small salon in the flagship store in NYC but just the sweetest people there....take a look online, they seriously carry the best designers there. plus, remember that they can change anything you want. I was torn between my dress and a vera wang. The vera I liked was a halter sweetheart, but i hated the halter, but the woman said that they would make the dress without the halter. Ultimately i decided on my ines di santo b/c i love the material.

Re: BRIDAL DRESS BUDGET
I didn't want to spend more than $1,500, but I didn't realize how much everything else cost! At the end of the day with alterations, shall, dress & veil I spend 3x my original budget (poor mom)!

Re: BRIDAL DRESS BUDGET
my mom is paying for my dress and everything that goes with it, she told me i have a budget of $2500, but the dresses i have been looking at have been under $1000, so hopefully with everything else it won't come out to be more than $2k

Re: BRIDAL DRESS BUDGET
OK so I expected to spend $4000. I cleared my credit card and was so prepared. But since I went to a trunk show, I kind of got a discount... and the dress came out to like $2600. FH was singing my praises for not spending $4000!!!

Re: BRIDAL DRESS BUDGET
I want to spend less then $1000 for dress, veil and alterations...When my mother said how much she figured my budget would be I almost had a coronary...$3500!!!!! I dont want to spend alot on a dress i am only going to wear for one day...Plus I would rather get a massage on my honeymoon than have a more expensive dress...

Re: BRIDAL DRESS BUDGET
My parents are paying for everything - dress, alterations, shoes, veil, etc. I was thinking it would probably be about $3000 but then I went shopping, found my dress and the dress itself, before alterations, is over $6000!!! But my mom and sister LOVED it, too, so mom was happy to pay for it. I'm really tiny so alterations, etc., will probably be costly as well. I have no idea how much this is going to end up costing!!!

Re: BRIDAL DRESS BUDGET
My dress is the one thing that I'm not putting a number on, obviously I don't want it to be some ridiculuos amount but I am soo picky and I want it to be perfect, plus when I fall in love with something I need to have it.... so hopefully that dress that I fall in love with won't be some insane amount.

Re: BRIDAL DRESS BUDGET
I would LOVE to keep my budget under $1500, but I'm willing to go as high as $2000 if I love something. Right now there's a dress I really like at David's Bridal, and it's only $700, so I'm hoping that is the one (I haven't tried it on yet because I'm totally not happy with my weight and don't want to hate my body, not the dress). I just can't justify spending so much more than that on a dress I will wear once.

Re: BRIDAL DRESS BUDGET
I have my dress already and donot want to spend more than 1500 for everything (dress, alterations, undergarments, veil, purse, jewelry and shoes). I'm doing well so far. I have everything already except the bra and alterations and I'm at 1,129!!!
