Brides having small weddings - a ?

Original post by Munchkn16

We're only having 120 people. We invited over 150, and I just got another no today. I thought I wanted a small wedding, but now I'm not so sure. I feel like that's a really small affair. I mean, it's the biggest day of my life, I spent a year and a half planning it, and I feel like now no one will be there to see it. Anyone else feel like this? Is is this PMS and wedding jitters?

120 is a lot of people!

We're probably going to have somewhere near 300..honestly, I don't know half of the these people. I'd much rather an intimate affair with close friends and family. But, I have a huge extended family and friends of my parents and blah blah.

Your day will still be amazing..as long as you, fh and your families, close friends are together.

I agree.

Look at it this way, you will be able to spend QT with each of your guest and that will make your day alot more memorable. I was only able to say hello to everyone for the most part. Not really catch up so look at the bright side

my wedding will barely hit the 100 person mark, but I don't think it's any less special than a 500 person wedding bc it's not about how many ppl we know to have celebrate with us, it's about the people that matter in our lives being there with us...hth

that's funny because i did not want a wedding at all - i wanted to fly 20 people to the Bahamas and get married there. then i said fine, as long as we have a small wedding. when we looked at rh's we looked at places with low minimums - that's one of the reasons we are getting married during the day because we couldn't make the night time minimum.

We invited about 150 and we might only just make our minimum of 110; fh was SO happy when I told him that but I had the same initial reaction like well, will it be too small?? but then I stopped and thought of what I wanted in the first place and I felt better.

so no worries - think of it this way, now you'll be able to chat and talk to everyone and won't have to miss your CH or anything.

Well orginally I had 150 and then my dad and step-mother got a hold of the list and now its 220. We will have some people at our wedding that we dont even know which is not what I wanted. I wish I stuck to my guns and kept it at 150 so I could spend money elsewhere.

Hope this helped.

You know i feel the same way, and i was just looking at our list today...we are going to be inviting around 150 and i feel like we aren't going to get the 125 I want so i might just invite the other list of people I had put together I want to at least be at my minimum.

We invited about 90 but i think we are still around 75 to 80 people because a lot of the people we invited are very close family and friends. Smaller weddings can be a lot more fun and intimate so i wouldn't worry about the size..
