on saturday i got all my bridesmaids together to try on the dress. everyone loved it in the e-mails & all the girls said anything i wanted to get would be fine.
WELL, thats not what happened on saturday. it was a horrible experience. i just wanted to cry in the middle of the store. i am a very quite person & every time i was in a bridal party i kept my mouth shut. whatever the bride picked, for whatever cost i didn't care. i didn't want to add more stress to a stressful situation.
i ended up being forced to show the girls a picture of my dress so they can see why i picked the dress i picked, which did help them understand. since no one lives in brooklyn i had the women in the store get all the measurements & sizes down & everyone was relatively happy with the original dress. within 2 hours one of the girls called me saying she wasn't sure about the size.
then today my mom calls me saying that my other cousin is coming on saturday to try the dress on (she couldn't make it last week because of work). so i told my mom that she has to come with us because i am not dealing with it all over again. so my mom said maybe we should look for a different dress. but i don't want to look for a different dress i like the one i picked.
then my sister texts me to tell me she doesn't want to wear that color anymore & i should pick a different shade of blue. i seriously don't need this right know. i need to have these damn dresses finalized. i have mid-terms & can't deal with all of this.
so know i am sitting at work on the verge of crying & i am absolutely miserable.

Re: bridesmaids dresses
i think you need to focus on midterms first!! do it while on spring break less stress!!! and really its your pick!! i don't understand why people give us hard times! i haven't even thought about bm dresses because i know is gonna be hard so i am waiting to graduate to get them all together if not i think i will study first is more important!! good luck!

Re: bridesmaids dresses
I know my bridesmaids are going to be like this too. Honestly, I think you just need to tell them that this is the dress, you appreciate their concerns but that you're sure they'll look beautiful. Otherwise, it's never going to end!

Re: bridesmaids dresses
Focus on your midterms before you even try to think about these BM dresses!! Somethings in life are more important than worrying if a certain shade of blue compliments someone!! School is first, wedding second... Sorry you have to deal with all of this, just focus on your testing and then once thats done put your foot down with your bridesmaids

Re: bridesmaids dresses
i am starting this weekend to look at dresses for the girls.
i have not and will not pick out dresses for them. i am leaving it up to them. i will come up with suggestions and give my opinion only. i know its my wedding but i really want them to be happy with something they are going to wear all day and night
as for the color i have decided on a shade of green but it is not set in stone because i have no idea what it will look like on with their skin tone.
i really am sorry this is going on during mid-terms and while you are at work.
i hope it all works out

Re: bridesmaids dresses
just tell them all that this is the dress and color that you want because it YOUR wedding.... when its their turn they can do whatever they want, and let them know that you cannot please everyone and the whole point of being a bm is not because of the dress, you picked them because you love them and want them to be by your side when you get married

Re: bridesmaids dresses
I agree with what you said how when your in a bridal party most of the time you keep your mouth shut bc no reason to add more stress to a stressful situation. This is YOUR wedding, pick whatever dress you want. If the girls don't like it, too bad, all that matters is you love it.

Re: bridesmaids dresses
dont stress!!
just refer them to the movie 27 Dresses and tell them they're lucky they are not dressing like little bo peep.
in case they forgot, this is your wedding not theirs.

Re: bridesmaids dresses
I was always a good Bridesmaid... and never said anything. You should send them a copy of 27 dresses.... But seriously, don't be upset. Its your day...its your call. You can get them all together again or send a mass email out... be nice and explain to them the situation..again. Say, you know, I was under the impression all of you were on board and would wear anything I chose. Planning a wedding is hard enough... I don't need the extra stress. I would lay on the guilt. Unless you are willing to change the color of course. Its a difficult call. I'm sorry they are putting you through this.

Re: bridesmaids dresses
Christine...
Honey don't stress about it....take care of your midterms and you pick the color and dress you want. If someone tells you they want to change the dress or don't like it....well tough...it is your wedding. You make the final decision and that is it!!!
They should just all thank their lucky stars that you asked them to be in your wedding party.

Re: bridesmaids dresses
that's ridiculous. it's your wedding and you should be able to choose whatever color and BM dress you want. don't let them get to you. keep your head up and don't stress them. your wedding isn't until next April, so don't get yourself stressed over your bridesmaids now. worry about your midterms.

Re: bridesmaids dresses
I told my moh and a bm about this thread. They both asked me the same question.
Who is paying for the BM dress?
Does that make a difference?
I didn't know what to tell them

Re: bridesmaids dresses
Bottom line: It is your wedding. As long as the dresses fit the girls and it's not too much $$$, then they should wear them without complaint. I already warned my girls that their dresses will be green. I said, 'If you don't like green, if you hate the color more than life itself, I don't want to hear it. Pretend it is your favorite color and wear it for me for one day because I would do it for you.' I would tell your girls the same thing.
wow im so sorry this is causing you stress. they need to respect your wishes and deal with it for one day its your day

Re: bridesmaids dresses
If they really loved you they would go along with whatever color and style you want. This is your day. I on the other hand told my BM's they could pick out the style they want to wear but it has to be the color i want. I want it to be a dress that they can see themselves wearing again.
ITS YOUR CHOICE!!

Re: bridesmaids dresses
I would wait until after mid-terms to stress about. you have plenty of time. We ordered dresses for my friend's wedding in Dec and they arrived last month...so dont stress and deal with all the drama next month. And maybe they will all realize this is your wedding and they'll keep quiet!
