Budget venue searching for small wedding

Just found this place and have read through lots of previous messages so I figured posting my own would be the easiest way to get help finding what I'm looking for. We're looking to do either a late March or Early May wedding. Problem I'm finding is the minimum amount of people required, aside from prices. We just barely have about 50 people and I suspect the list will really be about 45 people. It's beginning to look like our only option is going to be a restaurant which neither of us really want to do. We're looking to do up to around $65 pp after taxes but up to about $100 pp average if we could find something that's all inclusive. We have access to things like DJs and a photographer separately so it's not a big thing to do that stuff separately but it would be easy to have a place that does that for us. I'm not even sure we could get an all inclusive deal for such a small amount of people. Please give us some ideas of places that are in the price range we're looking at. We could go higher but really, while we want it to be memorable, we find it a bit ridiculous and not very bright to go off spending the equivalent of a house down-payment on a 1 day wedding. Looking to stay close to Nassau County but willing to venture closer to Queens or out in Suffolk if we have to. Sugesstions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

places like the sterling, ariana waterfall do all inclusive packages. Im not sure about what the minimum is.
Have you checked out Queens/Brooklyn Botanical garden. I know they could only hold like 85 people give or take

If you go into the planning tab on this website and go to the venue guide, you can put in your number of guests (45) and it'll show venues that can accommodate your party. Then I'd just email them all for quotes. I'd send you my quotes but they're all for 150-175 person minimums so they probably wouldn't help you lol.

I think we all started with the outlook that you have. None of us want to throw down the money that we are, but you'll come to find that quality vendors and low prices don't always come hand in hand.

I had a breakdown yesterday over how much this is all adding up to be. But then a friend told me we make money, and we spend money, and for what? For memories. For experiences. And what better memories and experiences than that of your wedding day.

anyway, I think some great venues I have heard great things about recently are Riviera, Bayview house at Captain Bills, The Irish Coffee Pub, and West Sayville Country Club.

I absolutely believe everything is overpriced for a wedding, I have emails from vendors stating so. But for me, I'm coming to terms that the cost is what it is, and I'm making very important memories for my future husband and I to look back on for generations to come.

Agree. Once you say wedding the price triples!

Budget venue searching for small wedding

i have the same feelings on this matter as Kasey ^^^

I started out saying 'oh ill have something simple, im not going to drop all that money for a few hours' ...then you start counting how many people youd like to come.... then you think of the pictures and the weather youd like to have... then when you walk into your consultations with venues with your desired price you realize that its just not what you thought... so that goes up, then along the way you hire vendors and all the other crap.

I started off telling myself id have a 25-30k wedding tops!! then i started looking around and realizing the term 'you get what you pay for' is so true in wedding planning. If you want great quality, expect to pay for it. this is a day you will never forget.

Haha, I definitely hear what you’re all saying. Seems my main problem is the small amount of people. If I had 100 people, I’d gladly pay the $10,000 plus taxes and fees for a place like East Wind or Sunset Harbour which happen to be all inclusive. If only they had the same thing for half the people and half that cost, lol.

I have looked here on the site for places that list the range I’m looking for with our minimum amount of people, the problem is that I’m finding places listed with let’s say a 50 person minimum and then I call and find out the minimum is really 75 people. As it is, our 50 people are just barely 50 and we easily see 5 people from our list that most likely won’t come. If we don’t find something that we really like, we’re leaning towards doing a cruise and getting married onboard…we’ll lose out on all but a handful of the people we wanted to come but our immediate family would comprise that handful and for the cost we’d have a ceremony and a fantastic honeymoon in one. I am checking out places as they are mentioned though.

What about renting out a space (ie: Martime Museum) and booking a caterer?

Re: Budget venue searching for small wedding

I'm getting married at the Irish Coffee Pub. They really don't have a minimum and there are many rooms where your event could take place. I have about 75-80 people coming. I will say that I think their Complete Wedding Package is probably out of your range, but they do have other packages. Also check out Captain Bill's, Three Village Inn, and Miller Beach Surf Club.

Have you thought about renting out a place and bringing in catering yourself? With 50 ppl, you will probably save money that way. Look into renting out the Setauket Neighborhood House or the Bates House

I am having a smaller wedding (65) and I am having it at the East wind cottage in wadding river. It's an all inclusive package. If you have it during the day or on a Friday it is a lot cheaper there.

Try Insignia. It's in Suffolk but its beautiful. They close down the whole restaurant for larger groups for daytime weddings but their party room can be separated for smaller groups at night.

I agree with Jenelle. I think that The Cottage at East Wind is right up your alley. Its pretty, affordable and goes perfectly with the amount of people you want at your wedding. I would definitely check it out.

Try looking at the Watermill, they can work with your budget and give you a good deal on off seasons. You can probably consider a Thursday, Friday and or Sunday. You will def save ton of money.

A lot of places are willing to come down on their minimums if you do Friday or Sunday instead of Saturday, so I'd also keep that in mind. Sorry I don't have more suggestions for places to check out.
