budget woes

Original post by sportif7

how many of you are already going over budget? i'm already finding everything i liked to be over my planned budget...

dj- didn't want to go over 4K, spent 4600, but wound up with a jazz quartet for cocktail hour and lighting which i didn't expect

photography and video- budget 6K, looking like 7-7500...torn between two photographers and two videographers

florist- budget 4K, scared to even shop it because i want tall centerpieces and my hall makes me use spitz and peck or stefans, or pay a 1500 bond fee to use elsewhere (aka budget now 2500)

limos- 4K, no idea what to expect, haven't priced and don't know how many i will need, but FH and I def want a private car like a rolls royce from ceremony to reception

honeymoon- A LOT...already have a separate bank account for that sucker

plus we want a photobooth (1K) annnnnnnd we have to tip all these people hahaha

So I've been pretty good with not stressing but today it hit me. I saw a centerpiece I fell in love with but I got quotes from others brides as to how much they are and my mouth dropped. I never thought flowers would cost so much. I'm going to have to clear my mind of those centerpieces and keep looking around

I had that same experience. We are doing a mix of tall and short centerpieces, and I found a tall one that I LOVED, but the price was crazy. So as a compromise, the florist is doing just 1 of those centerpieces and we are placing it on the seating chart table.

It also helps to find vendors that are friendly with one another if you can- they can also help give you some negotiating power. We did that and it worked out saving us a bunch of $$.

Im definitely going over budget and havent even booked much yet. My next thing to book is the dj, do you think I can bargain with them?

Re: budget woes

yes- everything is negotiable...they shouldn't charge you tax either so if you say if u pay in cash if it makes a difference, they are bs'ing you if they say they'll keep the tax off...according to tax law, you can't charge tax on a service where you don't receive a good or something...

Lovin Oven Floral Designs. Keyth is amazing and really helped us shape our vision. Our flowers are very inexpensive b/c of the deal we got from the RH. We are getting a ton for our money. I absolutely recommend them!!

Not yet- we are actually using the tall centerpiece that I loved (that is going to be on our seating card table) as inspiration for the STDs. I will definitely post the finished product.

I only have my RH booked, but just in my head with everything else, we are already over budget. I agree with everyone that at least we have time to still save, but still deposits are still quite costly in themselves!

I am sort of in the same boat as you. I only have my RH booked and - yikes!

I'm on a strict budget that is lower than the quoted national average of $29K. It seems like a tiiiinnny budget here on LI. I've got to figure out ways to make it -stretch-. anyone good at that?

I do have friends offering help who have some professional experience in some areas. I'm hoping that helps!

BIg Plus - we have money set aside for the honeymoon as a gift. I want to try to keep that strictly for honeymoon fun.
