I remember someone writing that they had stuff taking from the bridal suite at the Riviera and people told her she was just trying to bad mouth the Riviera....well here is the proof ! He finally got caught!
The suite at JT has a safe in the room...but that works for smaller items not a bunch of purses. I'm gonna have ppl put wallets, keys, etc in it and have empty or non valuables in their bags if they'll be out. But I'm pretty sure there are locks on the door as well. Double checking time!
Yes there is a safe in the bathroom and the room has a code that the BM will only give to you and it's your choice to give to your BP. Be careful though, I gave to mine and somehow other people found out the code to the room.

wow, that guy karras comes off as a real jerk in the article. that's not the kind of impression i'd like to give of myself if i co-owned a venue. he's calling the bride careless because she felt like her money was safe in her OWN BRIDAL SUITE? how awful of her to trust the venue she's giving thousands upon thousands of dollars to, to be a secure place. how about an apology, jerk. >:I

Hey ladies who are booked w/ Riviera, are any of you planning on forfitting the deposit??? I love the venue, it's exactly what we were looking for, I'm just so nervous about dealing with such a dirtbag. Other ladies who have recently had their weddings there, any more input would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't even think of changing Venues. This stuff happens. People s*ck. This man was a total loser who attacked people when they had their guard down. Should the Riviera have a keypad lock on the bridal suite door? Now they should! You just don't expect that people are going to rob you on your wedding day. Especially at a 1 wedding at a time place because it SHOULD only be your people there and if you have family who robs you, that's your problem.
I love this hall. I fell in love the second I saw it. I can't imagine having my wedding anyplace else. Like I stated in another post.... if by the time my wedding day comes, they don't have a lock on the door, a safe in the room, etc... I'm bringing my own. I'm a big girl and in the end, I'm the one responsible for my belongings.
As far as the co-owners statement... I'm not taking offense. Most owners at these halls have a bit of an attitude - that's why they have other people handle their bookings.

I hear ya! FH and I fell in love with it the moment we walked in as well!!! It was amazing, we had already seen like 15 places and we just were ready to give up for a little bit when we found it. We are so excited about that day, it's so cute to see him excited too. Having our ceremony outside at the gazebo... or even inside for that matter... is just exactly what we always dreamed for our wedding. FH even had me going to Michaels with him this weekend to find stuff for DIY decorating ideas... it was adorable!

Re: Burglary in The Riviera
We were actually considering changing, but I doubt we will. I don't want to go through that whole process again. There are like 2 halls on all of LI that I liked, and the other is way out of budget, so we will stick it out with the Riviera.
but you bet your arse they are getting a mouthful from me, I don't care if the owner tells me its not his problem. It IS your problem when we are paying you 25K buddy

Re: Burglary in The Riviera
i had my wedding there sept 17, and the BM didnt mention anything about the wedding before and having that problem. he did say to all of us ' dont forget that the bridal suit is an open place and anyone can go in there, just be carefull if you leave anything up there' and honestly i didnt think twice. we ALL had our bags up there along with all my tip money.
anyone can walk into a wedding and people are everywhere, when you have 100's of people there its hard to say who is part of the wedding and who is not. and as for locking the door, honestly i dont thoink that would work out. you know how many times we were all in and out of that room at any given moment. the BM is already busy working on your wedding you cant go get him every 5 mins when someone wants to go uop there. there best bet it to put a safe and cameras.
as for the girls that are having there wedding there, i wouldnt change the hall, it can happen anywhere. but just be aware of who and whats going on up there and dont leave anything that imporant to you up there. and as for the owner, (cant open the artical) the one i delt with was nothing but a doll.

Re: Burglary in The Riviera
The Riviera has installed a new security system as well as they are in the process of putting in new doors. There is a balcony with stairs to the outside which a spiral staircase goes to the front of the hall. A robber can come in this way. Hopefully the robber does not come back again. The owner feels the bride was irresponsible, 'stupid', and his attitude was very cold about what happened here. The only problem with this is that this has been going on. Expensive cameras, DJ equipments, envelopes here and there have been missing previously to the first robbery going public. This can happen anywhere, but the way she was treated after paying thousands of dollars is uncalled for. She never even got an apology from the Riviera. Thank god the girl who was robbed made such a stink to protect future brides. Otherwise this man would have been coming back week after week. Hopefully by the time you have your wedding here, they can assure you your deserved safety and security.

Yeah, I've spoken to them a few times, and they have.... I feel very secure. I don't plan on leaving anything valuable out - everything will be locked up in a safe/safebox that I provide. My good friend is getting married there next weekend and she feels just as secure as we do. Thanks!
