Does this mean we are having a GTG?

Re: C-sections...

Um, you are talking to someone who just cannot stop eating the 2 pounds of Godiva chocolate someone gave her for Christmas - I have gained back all the weight I lost dammit!! And I believe it is against the law to throw away a box of Godiva, no??

Of course, if there are no calories then the brownie sundae is the OBVIOUS choice...

In my opinion, Michele was well respected the first few times she stated her opinion of her birth, which was done in a very strong, emotionally charged way. I was sad for her and wanted to support her as best I could, although my experience was different and I truly didn't understand hers. I'mgoing out on a limb here and saying many others felt the same way.

It was after she repeatedly claimed to have been cheated, etc. that I, as someone who fought to have a child, began to feel that perhaps her words, while valid, were starting to be hurtful to those who had difficulties, and frightning to those about to give birth. We all wanted to hear about her experiences, and felt deeply for her, but repeating it almost daily was a little upsetting to the rest of us.

Let me say this loudly so no one misunderstands...

MICHELE IS 250% WITHIN HER RIGHT TO FEEL ANY WAY SHE WANTS ABOUT THE BIRTH OF HER BABY, AND *NO ONE* CAN OR SHOULD TRY TO MAKE HER FEEL OTHERWISE.

However...

**** Michele should also respect HER OWN request that she made to Anna about not scaring others. **** <~~~ This, my friends, is the bottom line.

Now tell me, does THAT have anything to do with being a parent?? No, it's an age old respect issue that could be found any where.

Do I (and I'd be willing to bet the rest of the regulars on this board, who really have shared so very much together) still respect Michele?? Hell yes.
Will this in any way stop me from offering her advice, praise, and a shoulder to cry on, or looking to her for the same? Absolutely not.

For those of you who feel that this sort of angry debate is something that goes on often here, I challenge you to prove it. Despite this debacle, which I hope is OVER, this is still a wonderful place to be.

Well said, Jenn

Re: C-sections...

Okay, now that I've had time to take in all of the comments on the last several posts I have some thoughts of my own...

I think the whole point was totally bypassed.

No one is taking away or discounting Michele's feelings concerning her birth experience. Only she can truly understand her ordeal and try to find the strength to heal and move on. And I believe that everyone on here was always supportive of her initial posts regarding her birth. Certainly no one ever questioned her love for her daughter. But when her commentary of her experience appeared in every single birth-related questioning post and she chose to focus more on her negative comments and feelings (that triggered an emotional response from several people on the board with catch phrases like - 'cheated', etc.) rather than veralizing specific step-by-step events that occured, it became a little overkill in alot of posters eyes. Another point that sort of stung many was that Anna was specifically called out on a earlier post by Michele for expressing her birth experience (an experience that only Anna could understand and that many seem to want to defend in Michele's case) in a negative manner. To me that sounds a bit hypocritical. It also points out that we all should be aware of our words and actions because they can come back and bite you in the butt. Often you reap what you sow.

I think it was great of Michele to feel comfortable enough in this forum to express herself and speak truthfully. However, when you put yourself out there, you leave yourself open and exposed for comments both good and bad. I could be flamed for the same reasons as she -I have beat the dead horse plenty of times regarding my inlaw situation. But I take every comment (and yes Michele, you have replied to several of my posts with comments I found critical, etc.) as from where it came from. This isn't a Martha Stewart etiquitte-book-in-hand garden party, it's the internet. People are going to say what they want to say because they can without repercussion or a true face-to-face reaction.

Being a M/T/B I found Claud's assessment of the situation totally off base and unfounded. Saying that the TTC ers misplaced anger over their situations is being re-directed towards Michele is total b.s. I found out (with much surprise) that I was pregnant and yet I found her specific comments (cheated, disappointed, etc.) uncomfortable. Tell me, what sort of misplaced anger am I suffering from that would make me feel that way?

And the gang comment totally killed me. I didn't realize that a group of intelligent, independant thinkers who happen to share the same opinion all of a sudden was reduced to a street gang. 9/10 of the women who feel the same way I do I have never met personally and don't speak to via F/M's. If I'm part of this heartless gang, then why didn't anyone fill me in on the scheduled meetings? Ladies???

Many people feel that the parenting board is immune to controversy and differences of opinions. Just because you become a mother (or are working towards that goal) doesn't mean you lose your mental capacity, grab a neighbor's hand and sing Kumbaya. Parenting in general brings many challenges and struggles so no wonder people have very strong feelings and opinions on various subjects. To think there is only one rule in place is absurd. And to add your comments in (only in the hopes of stirring up more controversy) without having some real knowledge of the issues or previous discussions, just makes you a &$!@ stirrer in my book and maybe you should stick to what you know best (on NWR).
