Can a RH tell you how much to tip...

Ok, so they 'strongly suggested' $4 a person(guest)... thats almost $1000. I think I may vomit.

For my friends wedding last month they were telling her 5-7!! She decided to do 4 I believe as well.

Was this the wedding you went to at The Woodlands??? They suggested the same $5-7 to us... FH says they can keep dreaming or lower their 20% gratuity rate.

I will never understand this... I get it that it all goes to different people but if 20% isn't enough to tip everyone... (which in my case is going to cost us about $3k) can't they just up it and then not have me worry about carrying around cash on the day of to tip someone else??? I HIGHLY doubt $3,000 isn't enough to tip the people working at the wedding that day.

i believe its the same but you dont technically HAVE to do that amount, it can be whatever you want

Mine too...

I don't know what my RH recommends, all I know is that I have 3 maitre'ds....

They give you a price range but if you can't give what they recommend, I am sure anything you are able to give is fine....besides, it is a tip and not a requirement!!!

Most of the RH we looked at said roughly 3-5$ per person.... :::::sigh:::::: more money

I have 3 matre'd as well...but my RH said I just tip one and they split it. They suggested 3-5 per head

really?! thats odd....the woodlands told me $3-5

I just can't fathom giving a single person an $800 tip!!! I rather tip the staff, the people that are busting their a$$, rather than the person that barks orders. And than theres a captain and than theres the bridal attendant... JEESSHHHH I am paying enough money...

I think I may do $2-$3 a person. I told FH that we should be entitled to tip to our Discretion and not to what one expects. I mean $800! I am in the wrong business...

I actually don't mind tipping that much for mine but only because he's the person we are working with from start to finish and he's the one who will be making sure everything runs smoothly.

But if it were just someone I met that day there's no way I'd be tipping that much.

OK.... I am thinking that unless the amount is it he contract ... you can tip whatever you want.

I was just telling FH about this thread and he too had a fit. He was thinking $200-$250 maybe. However ... by your responses we are WAYYY under. Wonder what Villa is going to SUGGEST!?
