Okay well I'm new to this, my firend recommeded it to me so i'm not really sure how this works but maybe u can help?
I'm looking for a reception location, my wedding will be in October 2007 we are looking for something on the water preffablly in Suffolk, and we are willing to go all the way out east if we have to, Any suggestions? We really liked the Thached Cottage, but I don't know to much about it and I have heard such mixed reviews. Has anyone gone to a wedding there and can tell me about it?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!!!
Heather

Sayville Country Club
I went to a smaller wedding there and it was really nice
Thatched Cottage is beautiful. The cocktail hour room in down a flight of stairs. I didn't see if there was an elevator, but I'm sure there is one. The place is beautiful and the food was amazing. I was very impressed by everything!

Take a look at Lombardi's on the Sound in Port Jefferson. It is on the water and the food is great. From what I remember, the reception room is ground level and you can go outside right from the room. HTH BTY - Congrats on your engagement
I am getting married at Lombardi's on the Sound, so I am a bit partial, but it is gorgeous and right on the water. You can see the water from the cocktail room and thr reception with the curtains open. They have elevators to go down to the restrooms and bridal suite. The reception is ground level. They can be affordable for day weddings.... we are paying $109 pp for a Saturday day wedding. oh, and the food is great

My sister got married at the Thatched Cottage in August '04 - it was great! The food was amazing - everyone raved about it. And the staff was great too - her bridal attendant - I can't remember her name - was the best!

Chateau La Mer is wheel chair accessible.
Your mom can go outside and in the cocktail room and the lower ballroom.
Im not sure how to get to the smaller room upstairs but we didnt even use that room.
Where is not accessible?
Actually we went there and since were having only about 100 guests, we would have to use the room upstairs, right now they are in the process of an elevator, but they haven't gotten town approval for it yet, i can't hold out, i want to book something b/c the date is really important to us, it will be our 7 yr anniversary, and the riverea is allready booked for that date..
Tell them youd have to turn them down because of that. I bet theyd give you the room downstairs. They did for me. I had about 125.
I had looked at CLM for my Nov. 07 wedding, and was told that the elevator would be in by then. We were looking at about 120 ppl. and were told we could use the downstairs room too. HTH!

Hi..welcome and congratulations. Try looking at the Three Village Inn. It's in Stony Brook and is right across the street from the water. It's a perfect place for a smaller wedding and is really beautiful!

For a small wedding, definitely check out Louis XVI in Patchougue. It's on the water and it's beautiful. Food is amazing too.

Re: Can Anyone help me?
I didn't read everyone else's reply's so forgive me if I repeat, I just saw this so I figured I would give my input. I just booked at the Venetian Yacht Club yesterday for 10/7/07. They just did renovations, there is an elevator inside but I am not sure if there is a ramp to get inside but if so, you could at least take the elevator up the the room upstairs. There are on the water but everyting is inside, you can walk outside during reception if you wanted. Once in the room, there aren't stairs to access theoutside from the downstairs room. The Riviera in Massapequa is all one level, I think once you get past the stairs outsite (only 5 or so) inside is all one level and they do offer outside cocktail hour. Then there is Chatau La Mere in LIndenhurst, I know there are stairs to get into the main level room, but I have seen them lay a track over the stairs to wheel up food carts, which I am sure they all do for a wheelchair.
There is also the Bayview House at Captain Bills in Bayshore. Althought they are on the water, there isn't much of a view..lots of boats around and the cocktail hour is there area closest to the water..nothing compared to Venetian or Chateau La Mere or even Riveara. I think that is it for 'on the water in Suffolk' that I know of..on the South shore anyway.
