I am trying to be accomidating to everyone's budget. I don't have alot of money, and i don't expect others to spend gobs and gobs on me.
Now, i LOVE to cook and bake. So for my registry i am sort of looking at this as an opportunity to really get some nice high end items perhaps for our new home in the future. Is it okay to go for a china set that is $119 pp setting?
I feel sort of guilty, but if this is a once in a lifetime kind of deal here, i want to be able to get the best but not go too overboard. That china pattern i fell in love with and i could go cheaper, but should i compromise?
What did you guys do? Especially for the bakers and cooks out there, did you go all out, or did you hold back a bit?
Also: Did any of you add furniture? Like a bedroom set? Or is that tacky?

I agree with what the other girls are saying about registering for whatever you want, however you need to think about it in terms of possibly not getting a complete set. If onyl six settings of your china gets bought and you wanted twelve, are you willing to spend the extra $120 per setting for the extra six? Just something to think about...
I agree, but my mom told me that she or my MIL would add onto it each year for christmas. So it will become a gift i know i will get from them that i wont have to purchase myself. I liked that.

Thank you, and i liked the Lenox Venetian Lace china. I figured it was classy and sophisticated, yet i could pair it with something modern and i think it would still go well together.
We registered for the exact same one.. its' 172 regular price but it's on sale for 119.. i love.. great choice!!

I too didnt want to have people spend $ b/c I dont have any. I did some expensive things and some cheaper things. A registry gives people an idea of what you want. Even though I want people to stick to it they get a feel for your tast!

I think that's a great idea, but I would also be leary because they may discontinue the pattern......I think if it's what you want that's fine do it, but I would make that the more item. What we did was add expensive things we wanted to buy at a discount AFTER the wedding with the 20% off. That way we could still benifit but it didin't look like all we wanted was expensive things. I would also take into consideration the g/l and what else is on the reg. As long as it's diverse the china shouldn't be a big deal, however I would not buy somebody just 1 place setting of china so you may be limiting who buys it. FM if you want

I could have sworn the lady at BBB told us that if they do discontinue the item, we can contact the manufacturer and have them make a set. I know it would be expensive, but IF that were the case i think she told us that they can do that.
It seems to be very popular lol according to the other posts lol 3 girls so far have gotten the same patter =) Hopefully they wont run out

Register for everything that your heart desires - because if no one buys it - atleast most places it will be on sale for your after your wedding if you chose that you want to buy it for yourself - and sometimes those big gifts - a few family/friends can go in on it together to get you some things - we put a bunch of cheap things (anywhere from $2.99 and up) so if people got something expensive and wanted to give more than just that they did not have to spend a fortune.
