Carltun Thread

Original post by pbandtim

I think us girls need a thread too. Since I'm getting closer I have more and more questions about the place. I have a meeting tomorrow to make another payment and I'm trying to get questions together. Do you girls know if they will have the CH decorated? Ice sculpture or fall leaves, etc?

Does anyone know when do they call you for your menu tasting? Also does anyone know if the Carltun has a chocolate fountain yet? I was told that they were getting one, but not sure when.

Re: Carltun Thread

I know in April the owner told me he didn't like choclate fountains that much b/c they can get messy. He did tell us they would rent 1 for us if we really wanted it. He never mentioned them maybe buying one.

I am almost positive that they told me they bought one and it would be coming in soon, but if not in time for my wedding that they would rent one for me. Sheila told me that they had to get one because everyone has been asking for it so they had to have it.

Question for all of you who have chosen flowers. Are you putting flowers in all the rooms? What kinds centerpieces, scattered, mantle stairs? It just seems like there is so much you can decorate, but I think it could easily become to much.

I was just there a few weeks ago, and I was told that they had one. But I forget the pp head.

we put flowers in the foyer and we also decorated the railing, we had flowers in the drawing room (cocktail hour) and the mantle and of course the ballroom...

we had very large centerpieces so we wound up spending quite a bit on flowers but i think we got so much for what we paid (fm me if you want more details on the #)
--plus we had 12 wrought iron tall candleabras that had flowers and candles --these were scattered throughout the foyer and ballroom --i have one pic in my album and i think you can see one of them in the background (i am going to post more pics soon).

who is your florist?

Re: Carltun Thread

Hi- I went for my tasting this past week and it was great! For girls who haven't gone yet- just remember it is a 'tasting' and not a full meal. The service was nice and they do provide dessert- my favorite! We ordered some other dishes just because we were hungry. It was 5 people altogehter. I cannot wait to go for my menu appointment! I also called regarding the chocolate fountain several weeks ago and Sheila stated that it was pretty much a done deal and it would be $5 per person....I priced renting one at Scholad in Mineola and it was $500 for the entire day....but you had to purchase all the food to go with it.....which would totally add up! I think I'm going to do it- I was just away at a hotel that had it and and everyone loved it!!! Yes, let's keep this thread alive!

Did you call and make and appointment for your tasting and if so who? Because they keep telling me that they will call me and no one has and I am dying to go. I didn't realize that you don't set up your menu the same day as the tasting.
Does anyone know if the Carltun provides any votives for the tables?

Re: Carltun Thread

Maryann actually called me about a month ago and I had to go to India for work for a few weeks....so I was worried that I'd be waiting to long- but they didn't really give me any real heads-up. You should definitely call though. Yeh, the menu appointment supposedly takes approximately 2 hours to go through and chose and finalize- and this is done on a Saturday or Sunday....at least if you worked with Sheila.

Unfortunately, I doubt they provide you with anything like that, b/c my florist (who works a lot with The Carltun), is including that in my package....but I bought more from Michael's...I love candlelight!!
