CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

I know there aren't many of us on here but I decided since some other halls have a 'thread' lets make one for us!

I LOVE talking to other Carlyle brides

I know since I booked- back in May, they changed a few things on the menu- I had just noticed it when I looked at a the menu when Carlyle had the bridal showcase last month!

Anyone else worried about the cocktail hour room being too small for your guests?

Great idea with the thread!!

I was worried but am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will be good and they can go outside. I think it should be fine with the overflow into the other rooms--having them in the hallway is my main concern.

what changes did they make to the menu?

Yay! I'm so excited. We just booked the Carlyle last Saturday.

I am a tiny bit concerned about the cocktail our room, but I think the overflow into the halls and the room across the hall will fit everyone. I think it's nice we have run of the place, halls and everything. I've been to a wedding with a simlary setup, and being in the hallways was a nice, different touch.

What's going on with the menu?

yeah we have a thread!! i was worried about the ch also but after talking to a few past carlyle brides they said it didn't matter and it was actually a better way for your guests to speak with one another..that way there is no real chance of clicks right away..i'm just so excited to be getting married there..anyone know what kind of changes to the menu??

I had 150 people and the cocktail room was more than fine.
It was actually nice to see epople sitting at tables in the hallway---it didnt look inappropriate at all. It actually allowed for the guest to move around and mingle much easier. No one felt cramped. I havent heard one complaint yet---just raves

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

they just changed a few of the main dishes- nothing really that different and a few minor things on the dessert cafe. I booked in May and I noticed the changes on a menu from the showcase last month.

I'll find the menus and post the changes later!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

OLD MENU VS. NEW MENU

Passed Hors D'oeuvres

Old Menu- Choose 10
New Menu- Choose 5 Hot and 5 Cold looks like more choices, might have taken out one or two from the old menu

Captain Stations
Added: Margarita Bar and Guafrettes to Mashed Potato Bar (dont know what that is)

Duet Course
added Thai Salad

Entrees
Meat:
-Took away rack of lamb and stuffed veal chop.
-Added Boneless Rib Eye

Poultry:
Added:
-Roasted LI Duck with Blueberry Demi Glaze
-French Breast of Chicken with Spinach, Sun dried tomatoes and goat cheest
-Mediterranean Frech Breast of Chicken with lemon, caper and diced tomatos

Took Away:Cornish Hen, Roasted Chicken Breast and French Breast of Chicken with Crispy Onion Crust in Dijon Jus

Fish:
addd:
-Grilled or seared salmon with tomato salsa or pineapple coulis
-seafood stuffed filet of sole
-macadamia crusted mahi with sweet coconut sauce

took away-chilian sea bass

Dessert Cafe (my fav)
no more cobbler station- instead strudel station

the new menu says only assortment of pastries when it used to say assortment of italian and french pastries.

new- berries and rice krispy squares with chocholate fountain

new- root bear floats, black and white cookies and pretzel rods

There are also more cocktail hour upgrades including a crab cake station.

extras now also include entree upgrades like surf and turf, shrimp scampi, rack of lamb and veal chop.

What they added seems really good- but the rack of lamb and veal chop that they took away is now on the extra list. hummmm....

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Thanks for the menu update. I like the additions to the desert cafe and the new poultry dieshes but I don't like how we are limited to 5 hot and 5 cold passed Hors D'oeuvres.
Thanks again!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

the carlyle is really accomodating!
they will switch around anything for you, you just need to ask
for example:
they took two captain stations and made it one large captian station for me because I wanted both but didnt want it to be two seperate stations out of the 5 or 6 choices I had.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

WOW....thats great cands... which stations did they do that with? just curious!

i'm not worried about the menu changes- i know they will be more than accomodating! (i'm paying a pretty penny so they better be!)

I'm happy they took the sea bass off... at least they are socially aware

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

oh boy fh is going to have a hard time with some of those choices..we had the menu all picked out already and mom was even in agreement with it which is a feat on its own..lol i'm sure they'll make exceptions..hopefully..thanks for the info

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Hello fellow Carlyle Brides!
Just an FYI-when I was booking, I was told you're not limited to the 5 hot/5 cold....just ask your banquet manager...you can have 6 cold/4 hot, any combination..they are very accomodating.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

they told me that too about not having to choose 5 and 5.

they also said that if they changed things and you wanted something on the old menu in terms of main courses that they might be able to do that instead. they said to hold on to the old menus!

i love that we have a thread!!

Yay! Im so glad we can all talk! I booked the Carlyle for July 7th, 2006...and Im having around 180 people. I dont think the room is to small, because you also have the outside, if its nice, and the hall way with the chairs!
I fell in love with the place, as soon as the opened the doors to the dinning room! LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

just wanted to say i'm happy for our thread

edited to add:

are you doing high or low centerpieces?? we decided on low because we saw what it looked like and it looked surprisingly good..i couldn't decide on a high because i wanted a topiary and fh wanted a candleabra..

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

I've seen it set up with high and low, both look good....I'm leaning towards low b/c they usually are cheaper and I find it easier to talk across the table with the low CP's...I will probably change my mind 20 times before I get married, though!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

we had planned on doing low--DIY by FMIL but we didn't like the way they looked--it was just what we had chosen, not the fact that it was low. We are going this saturday to try new things. Low is cheaper and what i always invisioned but a lot of people have been saying that it's a 'WOW room' and a tall centerpiece is a 'WOW centerpiece'.

My response is we're paying WOW prices for the room--need to cut the WOW somehow!!
