we had planned on doing low--DIY by FMIL but we didn't like the way they looked--it was just what we had chosen, not the fact that it was low. We are going this saturday to try new things. Low is cheaper and what i always invisioned but a lot of people have been saying that it's a 'WOW room' and a tall centerpiece is a 'WOW centerpiece'.
My response is we're paying WOW prices for the room--need to cut the WOW somehow!!
LOL Empire State-I feel the same exact way! If we have to pay for valet service, definitely have to cut the WOW....

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
we did low centerpieces and lots of candles as it was dark- it was very pretty.........
While the high centerpieces look good from far away- when you are sitting at the table, the flowers are above your head... so your guests can't even enjoy them.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
I have always wanted candelabras so that is what I am going to do.
I just haven't decided between doing all cream roses or all deep red (black magic roses).
What do you girls think will look better in the room?
I am afraid the cream will be too washed out or the red won't look right.... i am the worst decision maker!
So thrilled there's a Carlyle thread!! Thanks for the info about the new menu. Does anyone know if you can choose the color of your table linens?

When I got married there you had a choice between white and off white.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
I like both- but would lean towards red, could you do both? I'm doing arrangements with fat candles up high- I'll try and attach a picture tonight.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
i wasn't sure about the cream roses against the windows with cream curtains but then i saw your pictures i think the cream looks much richer then the red and with the candles and the lights lower i think it will look beautiful!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
where else is/did everyone put flowers? my florist suggested the 4 tables in the entrance way, the 2 fireplaces--cocktail room and ceremony room, the bathrooms, the main table that's like the focal point before the cocktail room.
any other ideas or better yet pics of what you did or are going to do?

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
I'm having two arrangements on the side tables in the hallway-(where the place cards go)
Also, candles and petals on the fireplace, an arrangement in the bathrooms and on that first center round table I am prob going to put all diff size pillar candles with tons of red rose petals.
also- cocktail hour tables will have candles with rose petals.
oh yeah- my florist also said that carlyle asks for flowers for the passing trays during the cocktail hour.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
We're doing a big fall centerpiece on the table before the cocktail room. Small Pumpkins, gords, and votives for the cocktail tables. Does anyone know if the Carlyle provide all the votives for the cocktails hour tables? We're doing lots of big fat candles for the fireplace. Harvest themed baskets for the bathroom. Florist suggested three baskets with travel size products and lifesavers. Centerpieces are harvest themed- dahlias, roses, sunflowers, berries, guords, samll pumpkins, wheat and then have high fat candles with berries around them. Hard to describe- but absolutely beautiful. I'm so excited.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
I actually decided to do half tall CPs and half low CPs (although I do have to still tell my florist I changed my mind). I initially wanted all tall but my friend mentioned that having half and half allows you to see more of all the CPs because they are at different heights instead of looking across the room and having one table's CP block out the others. Plus it saves some money. As for other flower arrangements, I am definitely doing one for the placecard table (how many other tables are there when you enter?) and candles and floating roses for cocktail tables. I will do something on the mantle in the cocktail room but I'm not sure if it will be candles, flowers, pictures, or some combination of it all. I won't be doing the mantle in the ceremony room because we will have a chuppah blocking it anyway. The flower arangement from the chuppah will be put in front of the sweetheart table.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
they do give votives for all the cocktail tables.
there are 4 tables--2 right when you walk in then 2 more (one is the desk) that is before the big round table outside of the cocktail room

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
i'm hoping they can make one for me and my fiance the day of the wedding--if they can't maybe one to put on the table as a 'grooms cake' type thing.
even the golf ball tasted good!!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
Does anyone know if they provide the candles inside the fireplace? I saw it set up like that and assumed they took care of it, not your florist, but I could be wrong.
