OMG! Please don't say that now For me it was a toss up between the Carlyle and Flowerfields. Who is your banquet manager? Are they at least accomodating to you?
I have to tell you that I thought about Land's End too and I have a friend that went to a wedding there and she wasn't impressed.
My sister was married at Flowerfields so my parents wanted Lands ENd- same owners- my shower was there and it was amazing....
dont get me wrong- i love carlyle- the ballroom is to dye for... i am just a little disappointed with their flexability....

Just curious, what sort of things do you think you should be getting from them that you're not? I haven't started dealing with them that closely yet so i'm wondering what to expect. Everything i've heard about them as far as service the day of has been very positive.

Yeah, I booked back in November, not getting married til March '06, should I be hearing from them? I figure they'll just send a letter for the next payment, right?

ah, i see. perhaps its the person you're dealing with, not the place itself? Who do you have? i can see you feeling that way - i've been dealing with cynthia and while she's very nice, i sometimes get the feeling that she could be a little more forthcoming with things. i've never done this before so i have no idea what 'other' things to do or suggestions. I do have a great DOC though who i'm relying on for all those sorts of things. Good luck with it all, don't worry and i'm sure you'll get a great day out of them!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
i was completely shocked at the additional gratuity also but i can't tell you enough that you are definitely getting what you paid for. my day was extraordinary just like they said and i'm not just blowing smoke. every guest that i talk to said it was the BEST wedding they have ever been to so please don't think about the tip because you'll be happy to give it after its all said and done!!

We paid it that night to our maitre d (sp?) I think they said that it also included the gratuity for your bridal attendant but we tipped her ourselves as well.
The other gratuity goes to the wait staff.
Ok, just to clarify here... The 'executive discretionary' whatever goes to the maitre'd and bridal attendant and the 20% service charge technically goes to wait staff? Is that right?

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
i think the gratuity goes to the maitre de, the captains and the banquet manager.
i was told to tip the bridal attendant on her own or include it but let the maitre de know.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
My sample cp-
What do you think- I am not crazy about the candles on the top- think I may take them out.. I am afraid with them it is too high for the ballroom.... There will be 6 and 9' pillar candles at the base..
Honestly- do you think it it too blah for the ballrooom- I am still so back and forth with deep red roses- don't want to mix- it is either one or the other.... Also- the base will be antique gold- not silver...
What do u think about the candles on the top... should i leave them in- or take them out?
i think roses are beautiful. i like the candles but think it would beautiful without them too.
if you are back and forth can you do the deep red roses scattered at the bottom instead of the cream?
i like the cream a lot but if you wanted both maybe that is a way to make it happen.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
I think the piece is very nice! How about doing a mixture of cp's with some all red roses, and some with all the whiter ones? That way you get to have both and you could scatter the opposite color as petals at the bottom. I think they would look nice without the candles - thats JMO though. Very elegant looking!
oops, i just realized you said you didn't want to mix..sorry! either color would look really nice in the room and i don't think you have to worry about it looking blah - the candelabra base is very nice and will help give it character.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
I love your CP, but I'm not 'in love' with the candles...I think your CP is beautiful just with the flowers on the candelabra.. its stunning. I wanted something just like that, but with our 25+ tables, I needed somthing a little more cost-conscious. What color dresses are your girls wearing? Just curious to see what other colors will be in the room.. I love the Carlyle's ballroom, and I know some say it's so bland and lacking color. But I think that is part of it's charm, it's classic interior and the fact that the room is gorgeous without any extras... So if you love the cream, I say to stick with it. It complements the room.. .but red roses are also classy looking and could also work. I guess I am no help.. I'm sorry

Thanks girls.....
My bm are wearing latte and champagne....
I am getting my red in there on my dais table, cake table and so on.... but i think i am going to stick with the cream for the cp--- i was back and forth bc the red flowers open up so much fuller so the cp would look much fuller- there are 4 dozen roses in there...
I think I am going to take the candles out-- I'll decide sooner or later!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
I love your CP and I love the candles. I was recently at a wedding where they had that same type of CP and I came home and asked my florist for the same.
