I was at Bethpage this weekend playing golf on Sat afternoon, so of course I had to peek into the ballroom. It was all set up for a wedding, the room looked beautiful! They had high CP's with green, white, and pink flowers, and they had white table linens. It was gorgeous! I cannot wait for my wedding there, I'll be stalking the Carlyle all summer!

You're such a stalker.. hehe, JK! FH will be playing this weekend, and we're going to have a late lunch there Sunday to celebrate our One Year Mark! I can't wait for 06 to come... and our day!

As for checking out the ballroom.. I think I have been there to show it to anyone who wanted to see it. I just love being there... it's such a magical space.

Tara you are too funny- I feel the same way about the dress- I am so worried I wont like it anymore- I haven't tried it on since December!

My first fitting is Saturday!

We also did our music for the church and ordered programs and rehersal dinner invites!

Florist sample cp is this Friday!

I am getting married at the Carlyle in 3 weeks. I have a question for those who have already gotten married there or who are going to.....what did you do about the 'Recommened Discretionary Executive Gratuity' and who is it exactly for....your contact person (cynthia, sue or gary)? Thanks!!!

I'm sure the dresses will look great and we are worrying about nothing!

we are still so in sync with getting everything done around the same time. I would love to see your centerpieces if you take a pic.

good luck with the fitting and everything else!

where did you order your programs? i was going to do them myself but not sure i'm going to have the time.

How far in advance did you guys order your dresses? My wedding is on 6/9/06. I've started looking, but haven't found anything yet. I'm getting nervous, because I keep hearing that I should order it very soon.

Above all don't get nervous! Most dresses can take anywhere from 3-4 months to come in, but if you need something rush ordered, you can do it. You've got a year until the wedding - don't start stressing about it too much! You'll find something i'm sure. If it gets to be 6 months before the wedding and you haven't found anything, then you can worry a little, but you've still got enough time. Don't let other people make you stressed out if its not necessary - there will be plenty of time for that!

We paid it that night to our maitre d (sp?) I think they said that it also included the gratuity for your bridal attendant but we tipped her ourselves as well.

The other gratuity goes to the wait staff.

Hi Tara-

I was also going to do the programs myself but with my end of the year paycheck- i am a teacher- i decided to buy them.

I ordered from whiteaisle.com... they have great stuff and they are a pleasure to work with.

thanks Vita.

I'd love to know (if everyone doesn't mind) the dollar amount range that you gave/are planning to give for the gratuity.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

i have to figure it out-

it is just so much already- the 20% SERVICE charge and then the gratuity on top of that...

I am really not that happy with the carlyle... i mean i love it and it is beautiful but i just feel like i am getting totally ripped off and i should have gone with lands end...

i just feel like they are not giving me anything extra- and for 145pp and tax and service charge on top of that- i should be very happy.

OMG! Please don't say that now For me it was a toss up between the Carlyle and Flowerfields. Who is your banquet manager? Are they at least accomodating to you?

I have to tell you that I thought about Land's End too and I have a friend that went to a wedding there and she wasn't impressed.

Okay, let's talk numbers.... I'm not sure, but I vaguely remember being told when I first checked out the Carlyle that for a Friday evening the MD's tip should be at least $1,800.00 !!!

Now - I hope I heard wrong...again it was the first time I had been there and my head was spinning from all the different numbers they were throwing at us, but I'm pretty sure it was the Carlyle that told us that.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

I think ours was about $1100 for a Friday night with about 160 people. I also thought it was a bit of a shock when it first came up It seemed higher than the industry average.
But by the end of our wedding we were sooooo happy with everything, we gladly paid it and thought it was well worth it.
