I know there aren't many of us on here but I decided since some other halls have a 'thread' lets make one for us!
I LOVE talking to other Carlyle brides
I know since I booked- back in May, they changed a few things on the menu- I had just noticed it when I looked at a the menu when Carlyle had the bridal showcase last month!
Anyone else worried about the cocktail hour room being too small for your guests?

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
we went with their Carrot cake (which was awesome by the way.) and it looked beautiful. the cake cutting ceremony takes all of 2 mins so I wouldn't recommend spending money to upgrade the cake. We went with the viennese table as well, so the wedding cake wasn't as important.
I'll be posting a review soon, but the Carlyle is awesome and they were amazing the whole day!!

Hey ladies,
I think I remember Cynthia saying that the Carlyle only offers 2 different designs for the cake and we could pay extra if we wanted something different. Did or is anyone going to upgrade and if so, what is the price difference? TIA
We had about 3 or 4 diff. designs to chose from for the cake. We didn't chose to upgrade to a different design because it really wasn't worth it to us - all the cakes look beautiful and a special or different cake wasn't something either of us cared enough about. Although, the cake we ultimately got wasn't the design we had picked! I didnt' say anything at the time because to be honest, i really didn't care. The cake was beautiful anyway and it didn't change a thing.
As we didn't chose to upgrade, i don't know what the price difference was. IMO, its hardly worth it anyway. To us, a cake is a cake.. its how it tastes that i care about more than how it looks. (and the cakes were all pretty, trust me)

When do you go and pick out your cake?

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
At your first meeting with them. I believe its about 6 weeks before the wedding. They show you pictures of the styles of cakes they offer and then you pick what fillings you'd like to have.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
I got the call over the weekend to make my menu appointment!
I know there's no tasting, but do they let you eat at the restaurant for free or anything prior?

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
Yup they'll let you go in for a free dinner. We actually never did it because we were so busy before the wedding. I think all you do is call your contact there and they'll set it up for you.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
yeah, we never got around to having the free dinner either. It doesn't matter. I guarantee that whatever foods you like that are on their menu, will be amazing.
Do youself a favor & get the mashed potato bar. It was one of the hits of the party!!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
Mashed Potato bar is a must!
Did any of you brides have a signature drink? At my booking, Gary assured me they could do it.
Also, when it comes to setting up the tables (placing menus, favors, etc.) were they cool with what you wanted?
TIA!

Didn't do a signature drink.. but as for them setting the tables up - they will do everything you need. We did our own table cards and they placed them in the frames for us and set up all the candles we supplied on the tables as specified. When you go and drop off all your items a few days before the wedding, they go over everything in detail with you and make sure everything is labeled and written down. You'll be well taken care of!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!
hmm, not sure if there were candles out during the CH or not. I didn't notice! We supplied our own for the reception. Yes, all you do is drop things off a few days before (they call it your 'drop off' appointment) and you tell them exactly what you want and where you want things. As long as you have your items labeled and give them a list of everything, you'll be fine.

We didn't either. The ones they offered were beautiful and you had plenty of choice for the inside. We chose chocolate for the outside to keep with the fall theme and it actually looked nice. The dessert buffet was also gorgeous.

no you would have to supply the votives for the reception and i believe my aunt had to set the votives out for the reception because carlyle said something about them not being able to put them out for fire safety but would be willing to light them..

The Carlyle set up the votive candles we supplied (and i noticed threw in some of their own..) as well as lit them. I think it might just depend on who you deal with.
