CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Original post by Bride2005

I know there aren't many of us on here but I decided since some other halls have a 'thread' lets make one for us!

I LOVE talking to other Carlyle brides

I know since I booked- back in May, they changed a few things on the menu- I had just noticed it when I looked at a the menu when Carlyle had the bridal showcase last month!

Anyone else worried about the cocktail hour room being too small for your guests?

Are any of you getting a Day of Coordinator?

I am just wondering if we have a bridal attendant and a banquet manager - do we need Day of Coordinators as well?

I think thats a personal preference. I've heard that the people at the Carlyle are very attentive and helpful so you may or may not need one.
I have one because she's been a great help with things before the actual day, and will be there from the moment i get up on Sunday to the moment the day ends. She'll be the one handling the paying of all the vendors for me too.
So, for me, it is worth it. It all depends on how much you want to do yourself or have your family do - or how much you want to just hand over to someone else for peace of mind.

Hello ladies, does anyone know what color the Carlyle linens are for the tables?

They are an ivory color if I'm not mistaken. I can confirm that in about 25 days!!

Hi ladies. The table linens are an ivory damask. They are really pretty!
As far as DOCs, I booked with Laura from LA Productions, when I met her I thought she was great and booked her on the spot. She lists her different packages on her website (laproductions.net) which helps to show you what a DOC does.
We have her and her asst for the whole day through the first hour of the wedding. The DOC basically manages all your vendors the day of to ensure that everything in your contract is actually delivered and the church and reception are set up the way you want them to be. She also does the polaroid guest book, will help coordinate votive placecards, will clean up rose petals from church - you name it, she does it. It's great cuz you can enjoy your day and be a bride without all the stress - finally!!!
The maitre d at the Carlyle will run your wedding so once everything is set up and running, you don't really need the DOC anymore.
Hope that helps!!!

Ladies - Just wanted to let you all know that the Carlyle is the most magnificent place to have a wedding. Our wedding was absolutely amazing and i can't tell you how many people commented on the Carlyle and the food, the service.. everything.
As soon as i get a chance (meaning a good 2 hours of free time) i'll be writing my review up and posting pictures for everyone to see. Soon, i promise!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Hi,
I know there was talk awhile back about the votive placecard holders. The more I think about it, the more I want to have them. Did any of you decide to do the votive candles? and was the Carlyle okay with doing so?
TIA
Kelly

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

They were fine with doing the votive placecards for me. The only problem was that they forgot to light them and a lot of people already had taken them. When I noticed someone walking around without it lit, I found the Maitre D' immediately and told him and my bridal attendant and they got on it immediately.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Did your guests have to go back toward the entrance to pick up their candles or were they able to set up a table near the ballroom so the guests could pick them up on the way in?
That stinks that they forgot to light them

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

They set them up where they normally do on the two long tables in the hallway near the entrance way to the cocktail hour. I think most people pick them up sometime during the cocktail hour. I don't think it was a big deal for people to have them throughout the cocktail hour because there was so much seating that most people didn't have to hold them.

Okay, so then they held onto them the whole cocktail hour. I wonder if I could have them pick up the candles unlit and then have someone light them as guests begin to walk into the ballroom? I will have a DOC, so maybe she can do that. Do you think that would be difficult to manage?

It sounds reasonable to have them (meaning the Carlyle staff) do.. but i wonder if it would cause a bit of a log jam if everyone has to stop at the doorway to have their candle lit..
I'm sure this is nothing new to them so if you ask, they'll have an answer for you.

While this is going on, you and your bridal party will be held out in the hallway to await being announced and i'm sure your DOC will be out there with you getting you guys in order and making sure your lipstick doesn't need touching up or bustle fixing etc..

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

I agree with otherme's post, it would create a back up which then ultimately delays the intros and the start of the reception.
If guests don't want to hold them for the cocktail hour, they can keep them on the table and come back just before the start of the reception. I don't think it was a bother to anyone to pick them up at some point during CH though. HTH

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

I think you guys are right, it could potentially be a bit of a disaster... I think I will just leave them on the two tables like you did SJM.

Hey ladies,

I think I remember Cynthia saying that the Carlyle only offers 2 different designs for the cake and we could pay extra if we wanted something different. Did or is anyone going to upgrade and if so, what is the price difference? TIA
