My sister and I are getting married at the same church, and found out their 'Guidelines' that they have... Do you know the flowers that you can have put up at the alter, well my sister is paying $400 for two of them, then planned on having them brought to the reception hall to put infront of the Bride and Groom table. WELL.... The church said,' Once the flowers are in the church, they are a 'Donation' and WILL NOT be removed.....' My sister is already paying a $575 'Donation' and extra for the organist, and now they want the flowers that cost $400!!!! Is this Absurd or what???!!!!!! And next year, I'm getting married there, and they're leaving such a bad taste in my mouth!!

If someone wants to know, i'd rather tell you through FM, but I appreciate everyones thoughts, ideas and experiences on this matter. I'm sorry I had to vent, but with all these wedding expenses and stresses, I just thought the church would be the easier of them all... I have read many lists here as far as what you Can't have, such as rose petals, or you need your shoulders covered, and when I approached the church, they said nothing of the sort. It feels like overnight they made these rules, and I feel like I regret not getting married at the hall. I figured I got baptized, received communion and confirmation, I'd keep going with it. But I'm so digusted .... Thank you again everyone, I'm glad I'm not alone in this!!!

Wow thats a shame - but I've found that they can do anything they want.
My church actually talked me out of a mass because the priest had something (a luncheon I think he said) to do afterwards. I don't know who books stuff like that so far in advance. I tried calling to re-book for a mass, and they won't return my calls.

That's ridiculous! I know a custodian of a Catholic Church and it's his job to throw the flowers out or give them away...Perhsp not all churches are created equal!!!!
