I think this is the biggest argument between FH and I right now. No one in my family is really religious except for my 2 grandmas. In his family, they are no that religious either but some will receive communion. I barely go to church and FH goes every Sunday. I really do not want a full mass because I feel like I will be too uncomfortable. This is something he really wants. I don't know what to do!

Yeah we are not that religious either but we are doing a mass. FH family is a little more religious but it was important to FH. I wanted a ceremony but whats an extra 15 or so mins...

I want to, but I don't even know the order of mass . Plus my MOH is half Jewish and she will feel awkward too standing up there.

My family is fairly religious as well, but my FH is not Catholic so we are only having the ceremony.

I think you will be fine. Remember, you are going to have a rehearsal

I'm absolutely having a full mass. As a Catholic, I believe that marriage is one of the most important of the sacraments, and like First Communion and Confirmation I believe that it should be celebrated in conjunction with the Eucharist. It would feel odd to me to be IN church and not recieve communion. Maybe its just b/c I attend church every week, but I can't imagine not having a mass.

Yes, but I guess I really mean I do not know all of the responses. It's really terrible.

If you are comfortable, try going to mass with your FH a few times and you will pick up on it!

Believe me, I sing at weddings all the time and the people NEVER know the responses. Usually the cantor and the priest just fill in the blanks, and its not awkward. Plus, you'd be surprised how many of your family members actually DO know them from when they were younger, etc.

Honestly, I think thats the whole purpose of getting married in a church! That's the most important part of the day! If you just want to be in and out, don't use the Catholic church as a pit stop!! Its so much MORE than that.

We are, its just something i wanted. it really wasnt a discussion. its really up to u, i alsways saw a full mass, to me its a sacrament, but there is nothing wrong with a ceremony. i do think that if it is that important to ur FH then do it. think about it im sure u had most of the say in every aspect of ur wedding, colors, decor etc... give him this. its just another 20-30 min longer. or go to precana and decide. whatever u decide--Good Luck

Re: Catholic Girls- Are you having a full mass?
we didnt want to at first....then my parents made it evident on a few occasions that they really really want us to have a full mass....my dad is always trying to talk me into it. So basically, i will feel like a really bad person if we dont do a full mass. But FH isnt catholic and can't receieve communion, he dosnt really want the full mass. I dont know what to do

I am having a full mass but it is something FH and I really want. well ur in a tough position because FH really wants it and when it comes to religion especially if he goes to church every sunday it's tough. Don't consider ur families in this one though....its YOUR WEDDING so really its more about you and FH your family will be happy to watch even if they aren't religious.

I am not using the Church as a pit stop! I have received all of my sacraments, attend mass regularly and went through Catholic school. My FH is not Catholic and so we are not able to have a full mass, and the last thing I would want to do is have him convert to Catholicism just for the sake of having a full mass, as I believe that decision should mean much more.
