Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

Happy Monday!

I booked my reception at the Larkfield Manor but now thinking about having our ceremony there as well. How does everyone feel about having everything at one site? My only concern is the photos. I know we won't have as much time in between as you normally would if say the ceremony was at a church . Anyone though about doing most of the bride and groom pictures before the ceremony??

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

We're getting married on site and will be doing all our pictures beforehand. I love the first reveal pictures and I can't wait to have his reaction on video! We want all our pictures done so we don't miss any of the cocktail hour. We'll have plenty of time to get every picture we want without missing any of the party.

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

Personally it's not for me for two reasons. I'm traditional and always dreamed of walking down the aisle in my church. The other reason is being traditional I wouldn't do a reveal so then I'd have so little time for photons and I'd miss cocktail hour which I don't want to happen.

We're also getting married at our venue. If you arent' religious, I think it is more convenient since you can get so much done before the ceremony. Our venue is allowing us to take pictures for 2 hours before our ceremony! We'll be doing a firs reveal, like Alyssa. I think they can be absolutely beautiful.

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

I originally didn't care where we would have the ceremony, church or reception hall, but since we don't want to do the reveal and pictures first and we don't want to miss our entire cocktail hour, we decided to try for a church. Best decision I've made so far... I didn't think I'd get so emotional about it, but now I wonder how I ever thought I could get married anywhere else.

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

I'm very traditional so we will be getting married in the church. We have plenty of time between the church and the CH to take pictures. We actually have our whole venue to ourselves for 2 hours before the CH even starts just for photos so it worked out perfect for us.

I'm traditional so I am also getting married at a church because I don't want to see Fh before the ceremony we are taking pictures in between. I have friends though who have had the ceremony and reception in the same place and have done a reveal. Do whatever is best for you.

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

We are getting married at our venue and we are doinga reveal before hand for 2 reasons. 1. We want to make sure we get all our pics done beforehand and be able to enjoy our cocktail hour and 2. We are Jewish and are going to be signing our Jewish marriage certificate in a small private ceremony before our public ceremony.

I think that if you're willing to see each other beforehand, you'll be fine. It's really personal preference.

I like the thought of getting married in a church. I was raised catholic, however I just moved up to Long Island last year and I am not a part of any church here. It seems that you have to be a member in order to get married there. Anyway, the FH is not that religious so I think we'd be more comfortable doing at the venue.

Thanks for all the info ladies!

This is exactly what FH and I are doing. We're both not very religious, plus we both wanted to actually be at our cocktail hour. If you want more time for pictures and are okay with doing pictures beforehand then I say go for it. If you're not into the 'at first look' thing, the I would suggest looking into a church or having your ceremony elsewhere. Good luck!

Re: Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

We are doing the ceremony at the hall for 2 reasons, transportation costs and we have people traveling from all over so I think it's rude to ask them to come somewhere early, go kill some time and then meet us at the party. so we decided to keep it all in one place and I used to do wedding photography and most brides and grooms and bridal party take pictures during the cocktail hour. EDIT: our reception let us add on time to the cocktail hour so we won't miss the whole thing :)

We're having a church ceremony only because I've always envisioned myself getting married in a church. FH doesn't have a preference. I think getting married at your venue and doing first reveals beforehand is perfectly fine! A lot of the first reveal pictures I saw were adorable and very sweet.

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

I think it really depends on your vision. Getting married at the site was not for us because we wanted that moment of the church doors opening and seeing each other for the first time instead of before the ceremony... So it's really up to you and what works for your vision =)

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

I think there are pros and cons to both scenarios. I think you should do what you are most comfortable. Your guests will deal with waiting around if they need to. And if it's one stop shopping to make YOUR lives convenient - then that's great for them too! I am not religious at all, and wouldnt have been opposed to getting married in a church. But this is FH's 2nd marriage and the Cathotic Church wouldnt have allowed him to get married in a church twice anyway. So it made our decision that much easier lol.

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

I'm getting married at the site for two reasons...one for my out of town guests..I figure it'll be more convenient for them to travel from hotel to site than hotel-church-site-hotel. Also, I've been a member of my church all my life and didn't invite everyone from my church, I believe it will increase the likely for folks I didn't invite to tag along to the venue if I get married at the church, lol

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

I'm getting married on site and doing a reveal before the ceremony. Like many of the other girls said, it's really a matter of personal preference and your vision. For me, neither me nor FH are really religious, I like that we just have to go to one place, and I want to enjoy my cocktail hour with guests so it made sense to do a reveal before. I love idea of seeing him as soon as possible, having that moment where he sees me for the first time and being able to give him a hug and a kiss, i'm so looking forward to that moment. My sister did it this way and so did my cousin and I always though it was beautiful but convenient at the same time. Again though, it's personal to each bride and groom and you have to figure what's best for you!

Ceremony and reception same site ...thoughts??

I worked at a catering hall and never saw a bride and groom actually eat at cocktail hour, except for maybe a passed appetizer or two...so unless you want to 'mingle' during cocktail hour you won't be missing much...plus your bridal attendant will bring you cocktail hour food in the bridal suite, so you don't have to stand around on line...haha...I think it's totally up to you what works for you!

Thanks for your input everyone! I am going to have a lot of out of towners (many coming from Florida)So I was also thinking that having it at the site would be more convenient. And I've seen a lot of really sweet photos of couples doing the reveal before the ceremony :) :)I'm feeling good about it.
