Our DJ is going to set up and play some soft stuff during the cocktail hour. I wanted a 3 piece jazz band but it was over budget. I remember music at some weddings i went too, but i think the hall just played classical mellow stuff.

We plan to have CH music. We are getting married at the Reception hall and are hiring musicians for the ceremony, so we might as well have them continue playing for the cH....

There is a baby grand piano in our cocktail room...so yes we are having someone play it. (We have a band.)
I also wanted someone playing the guitar outside but not sure if we will add that!
My sister is having a DJ but hired a steel drum band for her CH

our dj provided background music for the ch. most weddings i have been to have music during the ch

We were going to have a callapsyo band and then realized that it didn't make sense (for us, not trying to offend anyone) to pay $600 for 1 hour.
For like $50 extra, the DJ is playing music.

I know that is what i thought and my parents have definately been to a lot of nice affairs on LI. I'm thinking she doesn't REALIZE there was music. ha ha

I really wanted someone to play during the CH. We are having musicians play during the ceremony at RH and originally were going to have them continue into the CH, but then b/c of budget and other reasons we decided against it. Instead, we are just going to have the DJ play music.
I think it's a very nice thing to have CH music, if you can afford it, but at the same time not everyone pays attention to it. So it's really up to you if you want live music there.

Our DJ set up anmd played music during CH, but I made a mix, so all he had to do was press play!

I hear ya!! FH always said that he wanted steel drums for CH at our wedding, but that was until we found out how much extra it was!! We will probably have the dj just play steel drum music. I doubt anyone would notice!!

We are having a harpist play our CH. Since it will be Christmas time, she will mix in some Christmas music on the harp as well.

some people do, some people dont. i've been to weddings that had singers, jazz musicians, string quartets.....I had christmas carolers but i've also been to a TON of weddings where they didn't. really just a personal preference

no music at a ch i have never been to one with out it. What she may not realize is that they played it very low and unoticable which all it is - background music.
We are having prerecorded music by us that our dj is playing.
