Check out my DIY jordan almond flowers! (I'm so proud!)

Original post by RudysMom

I am so excited about how my jordan almond flowers came out. At first they were a pain but then FH, FMIL and I got a little assembly line going and we made 150 of them. They're going to go on top of our favor boxes which we finally have decided will contain those Lindt truffles. What do you think?

Hi everybody,

Thanks for all the kind words! I bought the special ribbon and almonds at Wrap with Us in Syosset. The ribbon is under the front counter.

Center floral rosettes I gor at WalMart and Michael's.

Once you get the ribbon you'll see that it's pretty simple. The ribbon is on a roll and comes like that with the petals formed. (They have several different styles and colors).

You cut off a length of ten petals and lay it out flat on the table. Insert 5 almonds into every other peak (petal). It does not matter if you start the first one with a almond or not.

The tricky part is getting the almonds to stay put b/c the ribbon is slippery.

There is a drawstring threaded through both sides of the ribbon (this will be clear when you see the ribbon). Grab both strings on both ends and pull, bunching the ribbon up along the string. The ribbon will form the round shape. Tie the strings together securely (like triple knot - the thread is slippery too). TIP: depending on the size, and if it has a stem, of the center decoration you want to use, you may have to insert that first before you tie too tightly and you can't slip the stem through the middle.

I used a bit of hot glue to close the last petal so the almond doesn't fall out. Depending on the center decoration I used, I also hot glued that. If your decoration has a stem, clip it as short as possible underneath, and fold up.

To make a finished look, I cut circles from white felt and glued those on the bottom. My guests are going to have to work to get those almonds out!

If anyone needs additional info/help please FM me.

I was just thinking that if anyone wanted more direction, I have leftover materials so I could take pics of the process step by step. Let me know if anyone would like that!
