Checked out these RH today
I'm searching for a venue that will allow me to have an outdoor ceremony onsite and outdoor cocktail hour. I am also planning a lounge inspired, cocktail party affair instead of a sit down dinner. I love the south beach look with white couches and lighted cube/tables. I am looking to guarantee 100 guests.
Riveria - Massapequa
I do love this venue. I've been to four weddings here and they were all terrific. Love the outside, the views of the bay and the charm of the bar and fireplaces. I just do not think it will work for me and what I am trying to do. I met with Vicki, she was wonderful, easy to work and candid. Quotes for a Friday in October 2012 or May 2013 was all under $100 pp. FM for more,
I do think if you like the vibe of this venue, you will work with honest people and be well taken care of.
Woodbury County Club
This place has the south beach style I am looking for. It looks like they do a great job with traditional weddings too. I met with Peter and he seemed to understand my concept and helped me start to put it together. They have a beautiful outdoor ceremony area where you cross a bridge over a pretty man made lake and fountain. I am able to have the outdoor cocktail hour in the smaller part of the outdoor space because I only plan to have 100 - 125 guests. They can create the same cabana beachy look there. The best part is that the upstairs ball room has the furniture that I am looking for. FM for more info on quotes and such. If you have a quote and willing to share please FM me.
The Chateaubriand
I wasn't thrilled about the hot neon lights in the lobby, but it is stunning. The new outdoor space is incredible. It's huge, filled with fire pits and little cabanas with amazing lighting, bars and a staged area for a ceremony or band. I didn't look at their ballrooms because they didn't fit my idea, rather I checked out the Europa Lounge. It's really cool, looks like a restaurant or a night club. The Chateau uses it for after parties. I wanted to use that room for back up for bad weather and use the outdoor oasis for my reception. This is all determined by good weather and I'm not sure I'm sold on that Europa room for a reception. FM for more.
Thoughts on this... I was turned off that the planner that greeted me immediately asked about what dates I wanted and how many guests. When I said October 2012 or May 2013 and said that I was going to guarantee 100 she told me that it wouldn't work. I had not gotten past the reception desk. I asked if that meant she wouldn't meet with me to at least discuss options she reluctantly brought me into her office. When I started to explain my alternative concept, suddenly there were tons of dates to work with and a minimum of 85 guests! This tells me they are not used to this type of affair.
I'll be seeing more RH this week, will post reviews. I hope this is useful or helpful. This is my first report like this!!
